Those of you with OcUK OEM 2700K Official OC Results thread!!

Question is: SB-E is out in three days - will the new i7 3930K be worth it over the 26/2700K series? A little pricier! Will the cost justify the performance advantage?

Been hanging back on hitting the `purchase` button for this very reason! Looking to buy a complete build so new mobo etc is not an issue..

So is the general agreement that the 2700k is worth it over the 2600? Or is it not enough extra for the price?

I doubt it's worth it if you already have a 2600K.

Even if you don't already have a 2600K they're £40-£45 cheaper than the 2700K at OcUK so you have to think hard before spending the extra.

Hi guys, New to the forums.

Im an amatuer to oc'ing so bare that in mind :)

I bought a retail chip from OCuk. It was the same price as the OEM at the time and i missed the posts about them being a good batch.

Not sure mine is to diffrent though

Im just reading as much info as i can atm. I have what seems like a very stable [email protected] but id really like to have a stable 5ghz profile.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v695/krschris/?action=view&current=44ghzclock1248V-core.png - not posted as proof, just a random screenshot i sent to the mrs. The windows score is for her benefit not yours ;)

I have a H80 for cooling, so keeping the voltage low is going to be key i think... I'll keep reading and hopefully have something more meaningfull to contribute soon. I picked a ROG p67 so with whats being posted in this thread, it looks like 5 Ghz's might be possible once i know what im doing.

Great forums btw been really helpful

The H80 could definitely do 5GHZ if that's what your asking.

Max prime stable speed (minimum 1hr) - 5000MHz
Max booting into windows speed - 5400MHz
Motherboard - Asus Maximum Formula with BIOS set to AUTO mainly, just multiplier and vcore used.
Cooler - OcUK H2Flo with two fans
Memory - Kingston Genesis 8GB Kit

The cooler Gibbo used is basically an unbranded H80

Has anyone got details/how to for maximus iv extreme,im wanting to try and get my 2700k to best stable clock, as above all that is touched is vcore and muliplier?

Not sure what to do as all ive ever used is asus cpu overclock software

Thanks

5ghz is ok for quick bench runs etc - but i wouldn't use it for 24/7 useage especially with a H80! Prime95 doesn't generate as much heat as IBT - Just one run of IBT will prove my point about 5Ghz quickly becoming too much to handle, heat wise.

My additional GT 1450 fans came today, started to fit them and realised that OcUK had set the original 3 fans to blow air down from the top of my case and into it rather than pull hot air out of it which I thought was the normal way to do things?

Anyway, reversed the fans, added the additional 3 fans and am now seeing a max of 68degC on the hottest core under 100% load (a drop of about 7-8degC on the CPU alone) - hopefully my case temps will drop a little now which will keep my ATi 6990 fan at a lower RPM too!
