Those who shout abuse at retail workers

Why does it bother you so much ?

Its beans.
I try and avoid brands that employ practices that I can only assume are there to be deceptive. It begs the question as to what other 'dishonorable' things they're upto.

Like you said, it's just beans. Why do they need to steal the design DNA of the leading brands?

I assume you never buy Chinese produced goods then, as they must be the ultimate fakers and patent stealers going?
 
A friend of mine who works it a supermarket got called racist the other day for asking the customer (a muslim) to come off of his phone as he wanted to speak to him and get the que moving. Guy said other customers behind him can wait until he finished his call!!!

Out of interest why did you think the religion of the customer was relevant?
 
I worked in retail in my late teens and I hope never to have to do it again, and that was more than 20 years ago when the abuse wasn't as bad.

Anyone on here willing to admit that they scream at people whose fault their problem isn't and explain why they do it?

I assume it is because it adds nuance to the post, like when people here say "a Tory voter", or "a Brexiteer" or "a toff". Maybe the addition turns out to be irrelevant, but sometimes people perceive a common denominator, rightly or wrongly.

Frustration :) I might be a bit weird but I enjoyed the challenge of calming these angry people down. Like to think it put me on good grounding for the rest of career to be honest.
 
While some of it is just snobbery, there is some reality underlying it. I was quite surprised when I started shopping at M&S. It's a much nicer place to shop. Strikingly so.

My mate had shopped at M&S for years and those two things weren't the only products he lost on.
He was still too snobbish to ever got to anywhere else and still preferred to pay hiked prices.
We've even got an M&S shop in the hospital now.

I tell you what's rude-
Once I was helping a customer and another customer, that she should take priority because she was a regular. I told her that there was a queueu. Some of the sustomers I had t deal with at NETTO were only really there to waste everybody elses time like a woman who had to be told three times that some appple and elderberry water was non-alcoholuic. I had to go somewehere else and she followed me there and asked another colleague the same question so I told him that she was just wasting time.
Just why do some customers, despite being told numerous times where something is or or much it costs insist on following you around the shop?

Once, I was one end at the aisle and a customer at the far end shouted at me-
OI, YOU GET ON THE TILL this was the same one who DEMANDED OI, YOU GIVE ME A POUND FOR THE TROLLEY for HER trolley while I was sorting the trolleys outside out becuase some idiot put one on the other side of the barrier.

Because they were being rude by throwing the racist card because they were asked to come off of their phone but refused and told the customers behind them they just had to wait until they had finished their call!
 
Reason i mentioned 'muslim' is because the guy said to my friend that she was being racist because he was a muslim!

He made sure that it was know that he was a muslim she said.

It's because there are no consequences for these people - they can do whatever they want without fear of retribution. So everyone else suffers.

Oh I don't know about that, my son's a manager in a fast food place, and some of the abuse workers in those places get is unreal. I've always thought it a bit strange and rather short sighted that someone would hurl a load of abuse at the person just about to make you a burger...

It's too much trouble to put effort into punishing the endless stream of anonymous customers. Someone has to be a professional piece of **** that keeps coming back to be flagged as not just someone with a bad attitude having a bad day but someone incapable of acceptable behaviour.

Retailers could pay for security to protect their staff on the spot. I know a KFC in town which ended up having a professional doorman for basically a medium sized room to handle the constant unruly groups each evening (on the citys main clubbing street) but might have been the council forcing them to do it or lose their licence.

But on the spot security is money and unless your customer base is usually drunk or on drugs it might be a waste of money 99.99% of the time and far too unpredictable to have part time security cover.

So it gets left to retail workers to get abuse to their face with no recourse and the managers get dealing with disruptive customer training and how to be sympathetic to finding staff having a cry round the back.

They also know they can just leave baskets of shopping or some of it by the till and just leave the shop, or tell the staff to put it back for them then leave the shop with THEIR shopping on or by the till.
