Thoughts on this build?

Can someone confirm the memory is fine before I buy, thanks.

Whatever you decide - i would definitely swap out the memory for the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT (AES in code) - it's a no brainer for an extra ~£10.

/Off topic

now just dream of 2 of those tiny whiny fans at full pelt... one on either side of your ear :)
the nice cool breeze...

AND THE NOISE!!!

;)
Prolonged, psychological torture is against the Geneva convention (i think - what country actually adheres to that thing fully when applying loop holes?) - I'm not sure the Mods have the power to deal with this level of torment. I would call Amnesty International, but they seem to practice what they're trying to prevent in the work place.

i'm sure we can wait 6 months for b550...can't we plec? lol :D
If i buy that memory i know i'm screwed - i'm up and still finding work to do to stop me (even with a pounding headache.). Soon as sit down properly, i'll look again... :/

I'm screwed :D

@Plec just saw the Max boards, 32mb bios, think x570 have 128mb . Key thing with b450 is not to update them ! Haha

Cant remember if gigabytes bios chips are like z390 which are removable , and then you've got dual bios chips
Those MAX boards are going to screw with my timeline - the only thing positive about them for me is that the b550's will have to be significantly superior.

Or, conversely AMD/Manufacturer's may see that the MAX derivation will eat too much into future B550 sales and speed up the their release...

Basically, I dont ****ing know! :D

Someone recommended it here, can you recommend 2x16Gb in stock here as I just want one order.
yes. that someone is me.

my 2p:

ryzen 3900x
gigabyte x570 aorus elite OR asus TUF gaming x570 plus (£210ish) OR asus tuf gaming x570 plus wifi (£240 - if you want wifi)
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4D32AESB 32 GB Kit (16 GB x 2) (£140)
Corsair RM750x 80 PLUS Gold (£80.51)
geforce 2080 super (~£675 when released this week?)
corsair mp 510 960gb (£130 inc shipping - check manufacturer site for details)
Scythe SCMG-5100 Mugen 5 Rev.B (£43 - ocuk)
Phanteks Eclipse P600S Silent Midi Tower Case - Black= £127.99

works out at around the same price as your spec above, but with:
better ram
bigger psu and cheaper
nearly as good cpu cooler at half the cost of the d15
monster GPU (2080 super) from the cost savings

i know right...and my build spec gets totally ignored. :( lol
suggest a better bang/buck build and get blanked... :/

even with a pounding headache.
would that been because of the tiny whiny fans? :P

@mcast

Yes the psu has all the cables you need.

The Crucial Ram that the guys are mentioning isn't sold by OCUK so you would need to Google it if you wanted it.

Tempted by the 2080 super, but I'm not an FPS gamer, just MMOs.
Monitor spec? I can't see it in thread (probably missed it)

2070 Super is the price/performance sweetspot.

i know right...and my build spec gets totally ignored. :( lol
Someone validate @tamzzy - he's feeling marginalised - not cool guys!!! :D

I liked your build - you know my appreciation for the Mugen 5 - especially wrapped up in a windowless box.

would that been because of the tiny whiny fans? :p

USA/Noriega tactics, eh?

Defiantly a Geneva Convention loop hole.

Nice!

The 2070 Super will suffice and is still the performance/buck ratio with your panel.

And look what you've resorted @tamzzy too...

Although, he won't relent on the 2080 Super - keep trying. You need @orbitalwalsh to appear! :D

Good thing i got a freesync monitor, the 5700xt apparently is better value for performance with it's price range heh.

Either way yea the 2070 super will do the job at that price.

Dan.

hmmm...i disagree somewhat? if you look at it in isolation (ie - just the gpu)... then yes, that statement is true.
however OP is spending £2000 on his new computer. that 2 grand can either include a 2070 super, or a 2080 super - with not much detriment to the other components.
clearly holistically, the 2080 super build is the better bang/buck rig.

unsure why everyone is saying 'just' get the weaker card. makes no sense whatsoever.

I thought we were working to a £2k limit (but then i am hungover so, special dispensation pass) - and the fact that he was speccing 3000MHz memory made the 2070 Super very component/budget friendly - but you make valid point if 2k is off the table...

And glancing back through thread - he may not have a limit?

And there's a 3900X in there - swap out?

OP's specced a £1930 computer...so i'm assuming his/her/its (need to be lgbtqrstuv friendly) budget is £2000.

lgbtqrstuv friendly
LOL - my head hurts enough FFS.

Well, if it were my build (and 2k- 2.5K'ish will be my limit) - a 2K limit to be spent predominantly on MMO (assuming WoW type performance) then a 3700X would sit well within the build and offset the 2080 Super's premium - and an 8c/16t CPU wouldn't look out of place in a 2K setup.

Better gains than the 3900X/2070S combo.

But, i think the 2080 has far right tendencies...
