TIME FOR ANOTHER 6900 XT DEAL? I THINK SO! *PRE-ORDER SPECIAL* PLUS SOME OTHER AMD DEALS!

Ordered one of these as a replacement for my 6700xt but have cancelled it as I might as well wait to see if there are better price drops to get rid of old stock and potential price drops of 7000 cards next year. Plus I don't really need the extra performance at present.

Yey, that's my scenario preciseley. Can't really justify the spend, don't really need the uplift from 6700xt at the minute just to play POE for three months, makes no sense.

I bit the bullet, no buyers remorse and can't wait for ever (as I've been doing) but I'm still on a 1070 so this will probably see my old system out. Any more GPU power would be wasted without considerable investment elsewhere, its primarily for VR on an Rift S and that has a ceiling. (Incidentally VR bench marks for the 7900XTX aren't good and its performing below the 6900XT...probably driver issues).

Still not convinced by this deal if I'm honest. Also with the reception of the 7900 cards have received I'd be expecting them to get a price cut in the new year if they want to sell any!
Ok so the XTX has sold pretty well by the looks of things but the XT is still sitting on shelves. I can see that dropping to about £700 if they want to sell any :p

The XT has sold around 300 now.
My feedback to AMD is it should be £799 part to give a £200-250 delta between it and XTX, because XT is a good card but for £100-150 more might as well buy XTX.

But it’s selling OK even more so now our 500 odd XTX sold out so quick.

Lets hope they listen as has been echoed many times the current £900 price tag for the XT doesn't make any sense

My situation exactly, planned on just playing POE which means not spending money on an upgraded GPU but they really ****** up the last league with less loot so decided to quite and try other games. Hope Sanctum is much better for those playing it!

Here's hoping @Gibbo can secure better deals on the 6900xt to clear back stock otherwise ill have to jump on a XTX.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

Ordered this on Monday, it arrived today to finally complete my PC build from last year. Proper bit of kit, looks awesome.

Plugged it all in, it worked for about 30 minutes then the PC shut down. Now it won't boot at all - maybe one in 20 times it makes it as far as the POST screen, then just a black screen. Gutted.

Is anyone else having problems with this card? I've tried swapping around the PCI power cables (tested them all with my old GPU, they all power it ok), reseating the card, updating BIOS, moving RAM around.

As soon as I put my old 1060 in it boots just fine.

(If I should be posting this elsewhere please move it!)

Thanks

What power supply do you have

Sorry to hear that. Mine arrived today, I'm replacing my old supply and that arrives tomorrow (1000w so future proof) so will update then. I know they recommend 1000w and its probably overkill but there was a review that mentioned spiking.

Out of interest and probably not related but did you fit the support bracket, I can't work it out but when I fitted the card I'm seeing a slight bit of sag.

Yep I fitted the bracket, remove a couple of the pci blanks below the card and you need two screws, one through each of the oval slots. The bracket literally just sticks out into the case the length of the card, and the card just rests on it.

Ha.. thought as much . I have no pci blanks below the card ..case issue I guess.
May I also ask which 1000w power supply you’ve purchased?

I've gone with a gigabyte P1000gm 1000w 80 plus gold....I didn't do much research, my worry was my 750w cheapo would bugger the card so thats been removed pronto before I even entertain connecting anything up.

Received this card on Monday after purchasing a Gigabyte M28U 4k monitor last week, so a decent upgrade from a 2070s and 1920 x 1200 monitor for £1100. Currently running on a Corsair RM850X so hopefully that will suffice, planning to run the three 8 pin connectors to separate Pci-e connectors on PSU. Will only get chance to fit the GPU on Friday so hopefully all goes well.
