Titanic submersible confirmed destroyed with loss of all five souls onboard.

If that happens, let's hope they can be spotted bobbing about on the surface because they're not getting out without someone to undo the bolts from the outside.

Hopefully it's able to transmit RF on the surface if not from an automated transponder, manually. Maybe a visual beacon too. But sadly I fear it's already met it's fate in the depths :(

£200k to sit in a bog with 4 other people?
It’s not a “bog” it’s more a hole in the floor and a privacy curtain. So if no one using it; then it’s just a window at the front of the vessel and the hole is covered up. That’s how I understand it.

Apparently there isn’t a single rescue vessel that can go anything like as deep as 4Km, the max is about 1Km so if they are indeed stuck on the bottom - there’s practically no hope…

What an awful situation, 96 hours too…

They’re going to send ROVs down. But if they see the sub, then what?

Might not even be below the surface could be lost floating along somewhere.

Simon Platts, who directed a BBC documentary episode about the Titan sub last year, said if the vessel was on the water surface it would be really hard to spot.

He said normally the sub comes to the surface and gets in touch with the mother vessel, before they both travel towards each other.

It is a "very small thing in a big ocean" because only the top of the sub floats above the sea level, he said.
