To help conceptualise how hard the search is in 3d volumetric space.

Imagine releasing a normal sized black helium party balloon into the sky in the countryside.

In the day you can actually see it for a reasonable height and distance. This is how many people seem to perceive the search to be.

Now do it at night.

Then start looking for it many hours after release.

That is much closer to the reality before you add in sub surface complexity.

And it puts to bed the story.
Its also the most likely outcome.

In the grand scheme of ways to die in this environment.. This is one of the better ones

Chances of finding a debris field of something else in the same area, very slim unless something else was reported missing there some time ago.

Has to be them really.

Considering that Magellan high resolution scan of the entire ship and surrounding debris field was only concluded very recently, unless there have been other dives in that small window of time, probably unlikely.

I suspect there will be film makers just watching the days until they can make a documentary or hollywood horror film.

The issue with 4K down is that a spotlight doesn’t go far so it may take time, plus any currents will carry the corpses.
