Most of us would be the fact that the majority of the western world has gun control.
And nope, have none of those things because I don't live in a crap hole where I'm at significant risk of having armed robbers break in.
I tell you what, if you want to talk stats. They've already been posted in here. What's the rate of firearm deaths in the states vs the uk? How many 'intruders' have been killed by firearm wielding homeowners vs homeowners killed by firearm wielding intruders in each of the countries?
How many armed intruders killed in the states vs accidental deaths due to firearms in the home?

Different countries, different cultures. Freedom comes with risks.

And you're arguing that because it this particular case it didn't help, therefore they should not bother. The police are armed because they have a dangerous job in a dangerous country. Armed police is pretty much standard in most parts of the world.

I asked for the states first. Lets see them.

We don't have armed police and we have far fewer police deaths.
Why is that?
Why is it a 'dangerous job in a dangerous country'?

Some specialist police units may be armed and used for specific tasks, but surely you must be aware that your typical UK police officer on patrol is not carrying a gun?

In the past I've asked a few serving police officers whether they would prefer to be routinely tooled up and they all said no. As I recall the main reasons given were that it undermines the concept of policing by consent and would most likely make the job more dangerous.
