Today's mass shooting in the US

It's absolutely telling that the general reaction to the spree murder of over a dozen people in the US now elicits no more than a shrug/ roll-eyes.

If that happened in the UK, it would be major news for days, maybe weeks, and lead to calls for action. And there probably would be legislation/ increased regulation.

I'm assuming the same stands for all European countries.

I put the same thing on twitter to a post what I put here and some person replied "criminals will still get guns" then another guy liked his post who happened to be from Minnesota with him shooting a gun in his profile picture.

You couldnt make it up I give up with it tbh you reap what you sow as a country no sympathy anymore.

It did happen in the UK and we changed our gun laws.

Sky news said there's been over 500 mass shootings (>=4) in the US so far this year.

Utter madness.

It is the ultimate in selfish society. All that matters is the individual.

I remember talking to a few of our American cousins about the 96 hand gun ban and they couldn’t believe we handed our guns over. When I said I had no issue with the ban as I never wanted anything like the Dunblane shooting to happen again and added that I would happily hand over all of my firearms to stop a single murder they just couldn’t grasp the concept. Some even started calling a lefty, a communist even, which I found to be hilarious but also slightly concerning.

On a kind of related note - I've several acquaintances on Facebook who were just ranting about the Bully XL bans, etc. and linking stuff like https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=706495791516095&set=a.455919649907045 saying about how it is all the owner (ban bad owners) and people should be able to own whatever dog they liked and then pivoted to this event and were ranting on about banning guns and no one should own a gun... without a hint of irony.

That's what i always find rather baffling with these incidents, i get that for us in the UK with strict gun laws it's easy to find it baffling, but even for Americans you'd think there'd come a point where one of these people who always offer platitudes after every mass shooting would just say it like it is, that this is the price people have to pay if they want guns, guns, guns.

Why is it every white shooter is a lone wolf or has mental health? Not tagged as a terrorist, thug, savage, etc.

Because that's the truth and one of the very simple things America could do to reduce the risk and still give the majority the right to own guns.

These people are typically mentally ill, and lone wolves as a result.

They're not doing these things for a wider ideological reason, it's because of 'voices in their head'.

But, except the extreme loons, I think most could accept a national register of gun owners cross checked against a national register of mentally ill people.
