Tomb Raider 2: Rise of the Tomb Raider Announced

Good going, thought the original was brilliant, in fact might give it another play through.

I think it almost certain it will be coming to PC, we have seen how exclusive Microsofts "exclusives" have been so far with both Dead Rising and Ryse going to PC, both by 3rd party studios which this also is.

So will be exclusive as in first on Xbox (PC Later), and never on PlayStation.

Why is that good? What if Sony does the same thing with different franchise in retaliation and we end up losing that from the PC? This sort of thing is good for no one in the end.

Well, they're not getting my money then.

Shame, iI quiet enjoyed the last one, but I'm not buying a console and an over priced game to play it.

More fool them.

Alan Wake too :)

Sounds like microsoft are trying to consolidate their IP base against anything sony have on the horizon. Smart move by microsoft, but a bit crap from a consumer point of view. I own an XB1 so I could still buy it and play it regardless, but I'd much rather play it on my PC which has far better fidelity.

You wouldn't care one bit, not at all.

And let me tell you, everyone working on this game knew about the deal long before today.

Its not like they sit around looking at the Ps4 Dev kit gathering dust and go..."gee...wonder when we are going to use that".

I really do disagree with your first point. Yes I am sure you be paid the same regardless but I guarantee that there be developers or production staff who will be miffed that the game will be cut off from large potential user base. Its just about taking pride in your work.

I can't argue with the other points you made.

pretty much how i feel, GTA sells consoles, Shenmue iii might sell some consoles, Half Life 3 might sell consoles, i really don't think an exclusive Tomb Raider game is going to sell any xbones, whats the point, if ms are dumb enough to give SE a load of money for it then i guess SE are laughing lol

Good going for Microsoft as a business strategy securing exclusivity on a excellent game and franchise which will help push comparatively poor sales and also fill a segment in a genre they are lacking in exclusives to compete with Sonys Uncharted.

For fans, yes probably is not so good although the game itself might actually benefit since all resources will be put to one place instead of spreading thinly over 3 or 5 platforms.

Seriously Square Enix, words can't describe how annoying this announcement is too read as a PC gamer.
Tomb Raider 2013, was a great game. Especially while playing it at 4K @ 60FPS (Some thing a Xbox One, cant achieve regardless how exclusive it is..)

I seriously hope this is a timed exclusive; As I have no intention of buying it on the Xbox One.

Maybe most of them had already played it on the 360? Maybe the lack of PS4 games helped shift more copies on that system as they had nothing much else to play?

If you don't see it as a big deal then why are you caring so much about it?

You misunderstand what I said, 2.5% of all Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners bought this game. That means that out of a potential 80 million+ users, only 2 million bought the first TR.

That's a really, really small amount of Xbox owners who even bought the game, that'll be a far smaller percentage who will purchase an Xbox One just to play the sequel, so I really don't see this working out for Microsoft. At the end of the day, Microsoft can afford to lose a bit of money, they've got so much they're probably not worried if this works out or not, it's just annoying for gamers who haven't yet purchased a next-gen console and are now forced to choose between the Xbox One and TR2, but miss out on Uncharted, or buy the PS4 but miss out on TR2.

It is a ****** practice by MS but I guess they felt they needed to do it. It will come to PC though, rest assured.

Still think that Uncharted 4 being out around the same time helped this timed exclusive(possibly) deal happen. SE probably realized that if they release close to UC4 it would only damage sales on the PS4. Leave it to release in the slow summer months with perhaps some DLC or 1080P/60FPS and it will sell far better on the PS4 than it would do if released close to UC4.

Convincing argument :p

The PS4 has nothing over the One except for marginally better gpu performance, that at present hasn't been convincingly exploited in any game.

On the flip side, what does the Xbone have over the PS4?

As far as I can tell:

PS4 - better graphic performance
Bigger games catalogue
More games in development
Cheaper at launch (same price now I think)

Xbone - Better online service (don't think that's on doubt)

Genuinely can't see anything else the Xbone has over the PS4?

Some sales are better than no sales, simple matter of money offered by Microsoft and probably a large amount of it too. You could bet your arm and leg it would have sold better on PS4 regardless of UC4.

SE are not exactly doing great financially so probably makes sense for them.

Guess we are getting reports here too that its a timed exclusive. I hate when companies word things like ****.

Worth considering that TR was only an average game imo, I only played it when it was free on PS+ and thought it was failry forgettable, I don't see the sequel being any better, not really a major coup for MS, more like a business manouver.
