Tomb Raider Thread

SIGH!!!!!

The game just crashed and corrupted my save game for no reason at all :S

Says that I have to start again to play -.-

Not gonna bother until they fix it if that's the case as that's like 5 hours playtime down the drain!
 
This doesn't feel like a Tomb Raider game, but I'm enjoying it.

It looks bloody marvellous and I'm finding myself actually involved with the game, which rarely happens.

Yeah just finished it literally two minutes ago. Amazing game which really did creep up under the radar for me. I just wish the silly QTEs weren't so apparent and having to sit through the same twenty second animations for the third or fourth time can be quite tedious.

The graphics on this game are really up there with the best I have seen, I take it this will what the next generation Uncharted games will look like on the PS4. Some of the cutscenes were really well done, at times you are thinking that it is pre rendered only for it jump straight into the game.

Performance of the game on my relatively specced rig was fine for 1080p at ultra although I did do away with TressFX and some AA. Still looked beautiful though.

One thing I forgot to mention, I must be the world's most useless platformer because my timing is awful. :D
 
^^ If you set Ultimate then turn off TressFX, use FXAA and drop DOF and SSAO back to Normal it looks very close to ultimate settings still and runs a lot faster - should be able to get 40-50+fps on anything from a 5850/GTX470 onwards at 1920x1080.
 
Today is the first day I really had time to play it. Its ******* superb and looks absolutely incredible. I loved the previous Crystal Dynamics trilogy but they seem positively archaic compared to this. I've even managed to ditch the m+kb setup and am blowing enemies away with ease with a 360 joypad. Never in a million years did I think I'd manage that particular feat :p

Regarding that btw, didn't CD say the were going to drop the auto lock function from the Tomb Raiders of yesteryear? But when I hold the left trigger Lara locks on for a second or two, just enough time to dispatch the baddies :confused:

Going to give it another few hours tomorrow, break for the footie and then get back to it. Have just landed in the shanty town after her parachute escapade. Crystal Dynamics are really beating the **** out of her :D
 
Played the entire game, first half before patch, and second half with patch, second time completing it since purchase, and its truly an epic game... Steam says 24 hours play, and that is a good amount of play, gf is going to kill me if she finds out i've done nothing all weekend but play tomb raider..

the whole game is like uncharted but for PC, it was amazing IMO

but then i love games like this, so for me, worth every single penny...

Can't wait for the next game in the series... Crystal Dynamics have truly outdone themselves with this one, naughty dog for the PC lol

Patch did resolve full screen effects, but I still found sweet FX to give much better colour and depth to my game..
 
This is the best game I've played since uncharted 2 and 3 and I've still not finished it yet. Absolutely love the game and the graphics are just stunning. Personally I can't play without tresfx...I love it, it makes her look so much more real apart from the times the wig disappears lol.

It was always a shame we never had Uncharted for the pc but now we have this. Can't wait for the next one!!

The game runs fine with everything on the highest settings apart from aa. Only time I really see low fps is when the camera is close to Lara, it tends to dip as low as 20 but during gameplay I haven't noticed it go lower than about 40-45.
 
Loving this so far and while not sure how far through I am it's superb. Looks fantastic and sure I've had a couple of crashes, usually during a cutscene or movie but it's great. Anyone sitting on the fence I can recommend this. My game of the year so far although admittedly it's only March! BUY IT!
 
I cannot kill the wolf in one of the tombs at the start, it tells you to press a and d really fast, then press F which I do but I get killed, sometimes I get pass the F and it tells me to bash E which I do then get killed again... How the hell do I kill this wolf. :(
