I really wouldn't. I love his videos and I've warmed to him now that he's stopped having his little tantrums on PH, but he's not suited to a show like top gear IMO. He's great at doing serious car reviews, and he should stick with that.
They could take a step back towards the old format and have serious reviews done by different people to the more humorous sections

I presume this is why Clarkson's Christmas DVD's stopped and became 'Top Gear' ones.
Makes sense. Before Clarkson owned a portion of the rights owning company for Top Gear. Once BBC Worldwide bought him and Wilman out they probably insisted on a rebranding exercise seeing as 100% of the profits would end up with BBC Worldwide.

If the show is over, the BBC will keep the rights to the name surely so if Sky say poach Clarkson, Hammond and May, they'll have fun finding a new name. Fifth Gear was named for being on Five TV. Sky Gear? :p

zzzzzzzzz

Serious car shows do not work on television. Almost nobody wants to sit in front of the television at prime time and watch a really in depth review on the new Vauxhall Insignia and how it compares to the Mondeo. Nor the same for more interesting cars.

Nobody wanted to do it back in the late 90's when Top Gear died, they definitely don't want to do it now within the space of 15 seconds I can listen to a professional and detailed video review of any car I'd want to buy anyway, or I can simply pop down to my local dealer and drive one myself.

Magazine television is boring - new Top Gear is a worldwide hit because of the comedy element to it, not because it reviews cars.

If you want to know whether the new Mercedes C450 is good or not, watch Chris Harris on Youtube. If you want to be entertained on a Sunday night, watch Top Gear.

Damn, no TG on Sunday. Any ideas what he's supposed to have done?

No idea but it must be fairly serious - hes got a reputation for pulling all kinds of stuff on producers (must be a nightmare to work with) without getting suspended so far.

Bit annoyed as gary lineker could have been an interesting guest.

I wasn't being overly serious - however he's one of my favourite car reviewers.

I love TG and I think whilst JC is an oaf and a buffoon I enjoy it because of that. Hammond can do one. I enjoy May's eccentricities too.

Hammond is an interesting enough presenter but if he left top gear it wouldn't have the same impact strangely as if May or JC left. Shame they didn't continue with Sunday and get a guest presenter on though - theres a few people (with tv and motoring backgrounds) who could be interesting to see fill in for 1-2 episodes.

I'd like Tiff or VBH to be back on TG.

Have you ever watched his videos......just so annoying. :D

Clearly it is subjective... but what do you find annoying about it? They're well filmed, informative, and he drives the cars well both on and off a track. Goes into enough technical details, but also enough layman's terms. A good balance. He's an enthusiast, not a celebrity - that's what makes his videos interesting, you get to share his passion vicariously.
