Top Gear: Series 19

What is wrong with moaning about the show? That annoys me. The same people always state this is a forum where people offer up their opinions, and if you don't like them, ignore them. Why is Top Gear the exception to their rule? It used be excellent, hence the enormous figures, but it hasn't changed in a number of years - we are allowed to mention that. How many times have they done the car football piece now? Is this the 3rd time coming up? :p

Anyway, the Pagani piece was quite boring. Great car but you didn't get much feel for it other than it being ridiculously powerful and fast. The Chris Harris piece on Youtube gave you a much better feel for the car than TG did last night.

However, I did really enjoy the P45 piece, thought that was hilarious, particularly the Dragons Den piece. Theo Prophetus swearing about it had me lol'ing. :D

I think it's more the fact that if you moan about the show, what is the point in watching it. If you didn't think a particular article was all that great then that's fine, but saying things like "LOL OMG TYPICAL BORING OTT TOP GEAR SHOW", then save yourself an hour and go and masturbate instead....several times.

Did anyone else miss the opening to the show, where Jeremy says "we've changed lots this series - this is what we'll be doing", showed the montage, then Richard says "so... we've not changed anything then?"

They obviously know that some people don't like the format, and think it's more of the same. However - they know that it works, and that the audience figures are only growing - so why would they change it?

Onto the show - the Virgin box died twice during the recording, so missed a bit of the news, plus the intro to the rallying video (it came back just at the end of the pacenotes intro)

I really enjoyed it, and was, as usual, in hysterics, as I am at quite a lot of scripted shows - spontaneous humour is very, very rare in any medium.

Meh. That's just the same argument of "if you don't love it, pee off". I still want to enjoy it and I do get a certain amount of entertainment from it.

The same format doesn't have to mean the same set pieces though, in my mind. As for why would they change it, I would say it's because they can't think of how to improve it, so they're stuck with it.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. For every person saying it's crap, there's always an equal or greater number of people disagreeing, so it's all good. :p

Why are people still winging about the programme? It's been the same style for the past 5 or more series, stop watching it if you dislike it so much!!!

Personally I thought it was excellent, I laughed loads and got to see a £150k Bentley thrown around a rally circuit. The dragons den bit was hilarious.

How on earth do they get permission to do things like that? Or don't they :D

Did you see the way it handled the rally track? Most peoples perception (including mine) see the Bentley as a wafty exec barge. They certainly made it look a lot different on the programme!!!

Good advertising by Bentley (if they were in anyway involved), because now they is cool init...

Amazing advertising for Bentley, probably works out quite cheap and they get huge amounts of exposure and airtime.

Exactly. Even if you completely wrote off the car thats ~150k, although it wont have cost Bentley that much.

100-150k for that sort of advertising sounds like bargain to me

I happen to know that if you work at Bentley you can put your name down to be selected to be given a Bentley and a fuel card for the weekend. (I think this is some kind of testing thing)

Perhaps that Bentley had been driven by one of the female members at Bentley who had ridden the clutch a bit too much and got too many parking dents so they were gonna scrap it anyway :p
