Just watched this last night, cracking film - Best I've seen for a long time! :)

Convinced a couple of friends who kept saying "Lets see Jurassic Park" and "I don't like planes" to see it, and they said the same too :)

Much bigger achievement when not riding off the back of a hugly built up massively worlwide advertised " Universe" etc.

Watched this on Saturday evening. Brilliant sequel and done with the right amount of nostalgia to please fans of the original. Seeing iceman was emotional given the state of his health and clever how they slotted him in the film.

I can see now why it’a doing so well at the box office.

Very unoriginal 633 Squadron/Star Wars rip off.

Way too many technical mistakes too.

Having said that for family entertainment it was the ultimate B movie viewing, right up there with Independence Day.

Funny all of the Top Gun Instructors are actually giving it mostly thumbs up then.

Maybe on the flying aspects, which is understandable, but the final attack is littered with technical mistakes - I made a list in an earlier post - none of which lessened my enjoyment of the film but there's no doubt they exist.

I am not even going to try and make a list as there are too many but the most stupid one was Maverick bailing out at Mach 10.2 lol, that is about 7000mph.

I finally got time to see it last night, a solid 9/10 for me.

Just ordered up some slippery sun tan oil and a beach volleyball if anyone's up for playing with the boys this weekend....

What do they know, some guy on the forums said they made technical mistakes so that's all the proof I need.

One thing I've seen all the Top Gun instructors commenting on the movie say is "it's a movie, not a documentary". They know there's technical mistakes, but they are okay with it as the flying scenes are great, and they understand the film is entertainment first and foremost, not a technical training film. It's not like the rest of us are going to be able to look at the pattern in the canopy heaters and know that the actors playing the pilots were in the rear seats and not actually flying the front pilot position.

I did see one ex-instructor say they'd done every manoeuvre seen in the film in that plane, so it was realistic enough for him.
