Juventus have signed (more or less) Roberto Pereyra, potential Vidal replacement. Can play out wide or box to box... so says James Horncastle, anyway, and he covers the Italian league.

I thought Real don't have any money? Well not a quarter of a billion in a short space of time.

EDIT:

Hhhhmmm Perez claims their debt is <€100m, others think it's 5 times that. The former sounds very fishy considering their recent spending even with their large revenue.

Remember that tv money for Barca/Real is huge and also Real, compared to Barca, have had very lucrative sponsorship deals for a very long time. Barca spent years without a shirt sponsor. They are generally wealthier than Barcelona and have had less seasons without a profit than Barca in recent history from what I can recall.

Then there is also the whole amortisation part of transfers, 80mil will go down as 16-20mil a year depending on a 4 or 5 year contract. Their last huge round of spending, Ronaldo/Alonso/Benzema/Ozil will be effectively off the books at this point. While they've made other purchases, Bale/Rodriguez would probably only be on the books at least, costing them 32mil this year(if both on 5 year contracts which is likely).

THeir last financial results said a 32.6mil profit, that is with big transfer spending and without a great run in the champs league. All things being equal(they obviously aren't though) you've got

Bale amortised costs of say £16mil a year, Ozil sold at what will be £36+ mil profit(profit goes on the books less the book value of Ozil, who at 3 years into his contract and costing around 18mil iirc, means he had a book value of 4.5mil, so probably around £37.5 profit), 25mil + extra income from champs league win. Mendi cost of about £6mil a year. So just there you have almost 65mil increased income, 22mil increase transfer costs, so + 40mil profit. That doesn't include other players amortised costs being off the books. It's likely Ronaldo/Alonso/Benzema/Di Maria costs are close to or completely off the books by now, maybe one season less. The Ozil/Kaka costs are off the books as well by now.

It isn't a coincidence that they started buying 80mil players after most of the previous round of heavy buying was either completely paid up, or very close to it.

They aren't in any financial trouble in the slightest.

Why is Arsene Wenger coming out with "We don’t need to sign any new strikers"?

I thought finally he had gained some sense and was filling out the squad like EVERY team in the division is doing.

But nope, it seems Giroud is all you need to win the league supposedly. I know we signed Sanchez but it is possible Sanchez will play on the left or right rather than upfront.

Oh yea, I forgot we got the immensely gifted (next George Weah) Sanogo playing for us!!

Just on the plane to NYC and am sat near to an Italian player and his agent. Overheard them discussing joining up with the Liverpool squad in Boston. Can't say I recognise him, he is quite young. His luggage tags say Massimo Trampolini, should add some bounce to the attack.

He's probably thinking of playing Walcott up front again when he's fit.

Bojan to Stoke

I take it he didn't fulfil his potential. Barcelona nightlife to Hanley, poor fella.

Barcelona > AC Milan > Ajax > Stoke

He is either having a really bad spell or never lived up to his potential! Still a good prospect at 23!

You're merging amortisation of a player, which is a p&l item, with the acquisition costs of said player which is a balance sheet item.

It is all very well saying real madrid's revenue can support the annual amortisation but they are acquiring wasting assets in the first place with cash or debt.

Either they have made so much profit (including on the disposal of historic pplayers)that they don't need debt to fund acquisitions or they have raised debt/equity to fund the acquisitions.

Edit- I realise I used general terms but the mixing of income items with assets is misleading

;)

He was never given a decent chance imo. No team really played dim for 3/4/5 straight games.

There are players that can play in a lot of positions and the manager just use him as a utility player. Sometimes left, sometimes right, sometimes down the middle...

The player never really gets what he should do as he is always changing and moving. Plus, generally he was only played for the last 30 mins of the gamr or the first 60 (I can comment for Roma and Milan at least).

Showed some sparks of brilliance, but no consistency.

I'm sure you're aware that I'm talking abut the PL, he is unproven in it unless I missed his previous stint.
I can't think of any other manager who has come here (regardless of their credentials) and taken a team from as 'low' as 7th to the top 4 the next season, can you?

Not yet they aren't, they've spent around £75m and that looks like that's it so Man.U and Liverpool still have time to overtake them.

Utd are miles behind chelski, they would have to spend about £200m plus to catch up.
