Barcelona > AC Milan > Ajax > Stoke

He is either having a really bad spell or never lived up to his potential! Still a good prospect at 23!

He's the new Javier Saviola.

I fully expect he'll be warming the bench for most of the season. I really hopes he proves me wrong though.

Manquillo? A young RB from Atletico looks like joining Remy, Origi and Lovren in signing for us in the next week or so.

Never heard of him but twitter says he's meant to be a bit of a prospect. Supposedly we're after taking him on loan for a year (or 2) with a view of signing him permanently if he impresses.

He's 20 (so could never qualify as a home-grown player) and doesn't appear to be a prospective starter. Potential is usually a good thing, but Liverpool players seldom realise it (Sterling being the only exception which springs to mind in the past decade or more, among a never-ending string of failures).

Do you actually know anything about him or was that just a senseless ramble?

Senseless ramble mostly based on our past, but there's nothing to suggest he's anything special. :p

Seriously, we need players who can come in and challenge for a first team position straight away as our recent history of nurturing young players is utterly shocking, and there's nothing to suggest he could at the moment.

Who knows but I'd certainly argue that there can't be many (if any) better clubs for a young player to fulfil their potential than Liverpool right now.

Utd are miles behind chelski, they would have to spend about £200m plus to catch up.

They have a good team to be fair Zouma is highly rated and that was the one upcoming weakness of the team the backline going like United losing Rio,Vidic,Evra but it looks like they are buying right to avoid it.

Certainly at the minute they are stronger. But the window is not finnished yet and hopefully we have a few pennies to spare. In reality though im hoping our cushion blow is over and after this year we will be back in Europe and buying our way to success also. The difference is we will hopefully do it the right way ie we take money from Adidas not a Russian unrelated to football activities or the club.

Everyone else is doing it Barcelona have Neymar and Suarez, Real have Bale James Ronaldo suddenly Chelsea and the other English teams look weak in comparison. Those two front lines have so much pace and trickery and goals in them i really hope someone will put up a fight this year in Europe against them.

Personally I wouldn't bet on them getting straight back into Europe. Certainly be interesting year.

It depends on the player. For example Suso is someone who most feel could be a very decent player, yet last year he was sent to La Liga and he's running out of years to stake his claim. With Lallana arriving, it looks like he'll be banished to another loan move again or, injury withstanding, lots of games on the bench. Give him a few games in a row, even if just a sub!

I want to feel Rodgers knows what he's doing, as he's made a couple of excellent signings, but he's also spent quite a bit on duffs.

This might be harsh, but for me this season is make or break for him - play it safe and fall back down to 5th or 6th and he'll be deemed a failure, or be aggressive and challenge for the top 4 and have a good chance of being cemented in Liverpool's recent history with perhaps more to come. It's a fine margin, but despite what he did last year, he needs to build on it... and I'm not at all convinced we're a better squad than last year - deeper, certainly, but better? I don't see it. And like it or not Man Utd are coming for us, and if they start well, Spurs too.

It was good for Suso's development to go out on loan and play regularly and by all accounts he done well last season. If he doesn't make it with us it won't be due to mismanagement or a lack of chances but because he's either not quite good enough or not quite the style of player Rodgers wants; similar to what I said about Eriksen previously on here, Rodgers wants his attack mids to press and win the ball back high up the pitch which I don't see Suso doing.

And Suso's just one player, what about Flanagan? I've never rated him and still don't think he's a long term solution but he's come on leaps and bounds under Rodgers as have Henderson, Sturridge, Coutinho and even Suarez moved onto the next level under Rodgers.

I've been fairly critical of Rodgers in the past but you can't deny he's done a fantastic job overall nor question his coaching ability. As a coach he's second to none.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Supposedly Messi was interested in a move to Arsenal last season!

Daily Mail. LOL. Can't be bothered after that. :p Actually I can. LOL. See? I did it twice. Oh how my ribs ache!

Well hopefully that will be reflected in a few performances for Liverpool. He's the brightest star we've got (other than Sterling) but he's beginning to run out of time.

A player not deemed good enough for a miserable England squad? He's OK, but come on, he's never, ever going to be a regular starter for a top-4 challenging team. If the latter part of last season becomes a regular thing for a top-4 team then many hats will be eaten. I will video it too.

[..]as have Henderson, Sturridge, Coutinho and even Suarez moved onto the next level under Rodgers.

All of which were signed for the now, and while all were expected to improve, they were signed to slot straight into the first team, and they were hardly teenagers.

We've got a lot more to come than just Suso. Ibe's the one that has the biggest chance of breaking through this year.

And I agree re Flanagan, my point was on Rodgers coaching and getting the best out of players. Flanagan is fulfilling his potential, he's performing at a level higher than I thought he'd ever be capable.

As for the last sentence, see above. Yes they were more senior signings but under Rodgers they've progressed and in some cases are playing to a level a lot thought was beyond them.

There can be no arguments when it comes to a Rodgers coaching ability. Players improve under him and all bias aside, any young player looking to progress could do a lot worse than join Liverpool right now.
