Haven't a clue to be honest, we keep hearing about how the communication from the board to the players is very poor. For example Cork and Fonte both have 1 year left on their contracts but haven't received new offers (although there was a rumour Fonte had but he rejected, no idea if this is true or not) but a couple of kids and Rodriguez have.

Whether or not expenditure was not sustainable under Cortese and now they are regaining control the players aren't happy with this lack of ambition.

Or maybe we can't compete with top 4 teams offering silly money and wages.

One thing that i don't understand is why sell everyone first before buying replacements as we will be charged an absolute ****ton in fees now.

Its things like that which make me believe its a cash out, rather than the big boys coming along and stealing all your toys.

There would surely have been room in negotiations to force reasonable mid-table standard players out of United, Arsenal and Liverpool as part of the player sales - while still earning a fortune on top.

From a footballing standpoint none of it makes sense.

I bet Southampton only spend about 20% of the money they've made too. Unless they pull off a load of utterly fantastic signings, and the young players all step up, they're in a world of trouble.

Some serious asset stripping going on there.

Well being a Saints fan i'm used to selling our best players but all of them in one window is quite a surprise. It's usually pretty difficult to replace one or two main players but it's going to be almost impossible to replace 7 or 8.
Our first team last season:
Boruc
Shaw - Man Utd
Chambers - Arsenal
Lovren - Liverpool
Fonte - ? One year left on his contract
Morgan - Arsenal bound it seems
Victor
Lallana - Liverpool
Davis
Jay - Tottenham/Liverpool bound
Lambert - Liverpool
So basically 4 first players left with the team morale shot and core of the team gone.
Even if we spend the incoming fees it's going to take a good few months for them to gel and work well together.

Not sure why Liverpool have spent that much money on Lovren. He wasn't that great last season, was it against Liverpool when he went down easily trying to sheild the ball and then conceded a goal?

Lovren was very good last year, 16 rising to 20 with addons is very reasonable, especially when you look at arsenal spending the same amount on the young kiddie that's their 2nd choice (Chambers is it?) and Man City being quoted 30 million plus for the 4th choice France cb.

Chambers is British, that adds £8m on whether he's good or bad. :p

Is he actually any good? Can't say I watched him last year.
