Well when I said we didn't need to sign such a young and inexperienced keeper ya'll disagreed and yet we got dumped out of all competitions and de gea was right at the core of it.

But now we aren't in the cl so less pressure it's now imperative to sign only the most experienced players? Despite gk being experienced is like a number 1 attribute in that position for a top club?

Very strange how people's minds work in such contradictory manner on here.

You're right, we should have signed N'Zogbia instead.

Cavani would only make sense if he was cheap(ish), and he wouldn't be.

If Zlatan gets injured then PSG have no decent cover for him either, and he's not getting any younger...

Marca, and apparently Real Madrid, seem to think that PSG have to sell Cavani (or a star name) in order to sign Di Maria, which may be true, I guess.

As we're interested in Di Maria, the last thing we want to do is guarantee he signs for PSG and buy another expensive striker when we have so many already.

You'd think Arsenal would be in for him, as the main man he'd complete their attack.

Reports coming in that Arsenal have sold Jenkinson for £3mil to Hull.

Shame if it is true, he covered well for Sagna last season, think with the imminent arrival of Chambers and Debauchy already here he has seen his chances for next season as limited.

A cracking prospect for £3mil if true.

The only way Cavani makes sense is IF Rooney goes the other way

Would be sorry to see him go if for no other reason than some of the magic he has done in pre-season. He also seems to be geling well with LvG.

Im not that keen on Di Maria (especially if Utd are going 3-5-2), but is 100% behind his signing IF Utd dont go for Cavani - which would be a complete and expensive waste.

Cant stop laughing at a 27 year old lasting 10 more years at the top level (and yes just because the EPL altogether have seen a handful of quality 37yo+, and Utd have seen 2, doesnt mean everyone is going to last that long).

I think Cavani is a load of nonsense. Top class striker rumoured to be leaving and we are supposed to have loads of money to burn. Makes sense. Add to that the rumour that PSG want Di Maria and have to sell someone to afford him and it all makes perfect sense.

We don't need him and would have to offer Rooney + cash to get him which is pointless. We don't need a new striker for a few seasons yet and have other priorities.

Nice to see Arsenal signing another player, but who the hell is this Chambers lad? Is he any good? Lot's of money for someone most people not heard of.

Looks good on the tube. Shame about jenkinson if true. He looked pretty good when he had a run of games. I think chambers is an upgrade though for his defending.

I'm not entirely sure what the point of signing a 29 year old right back for 12mil was, for Arsenal that is a strange price for that age player to begin with. I'm not sure debuchy has ever shown he's actually brilliant, though likely a significant upgrade on Sagna. Though you've got to think considering Wenger wanted Sagna to stay and thought he was great, surely 1mil extra a year and an extra year on the contract to get Sagna would have ended up way way cheaper than Debuchy?

Either way, 12mil on 29year old RB, while spending 11 to 16mil on a 19yr old who needs games.

He started 18 games and subbed into another 4. If he plays less than that this season he'll be regressing basically. playing lots of games from 19-23 is what turns good players into great players. Chambers should be starting more than half the league games this year so signing an expensive experienced player makes no sense. It's nuts, up to 30mil basically on two RB's when we had a promising RB to start with who we now get rid of, and nothing on left back where Gibbs can't defend or attack.

Wenger should have had some balls, bought Chambers, not Debuchy and spent that money on a first team left back.

We might use Chambers more at CB, who knows, I thought he looked pretty good at RB when I saw him play and I kind of hate this buy a player good in one position with the intention of hoping he might be good in a different position thing that some managers do, particularly Wenger.

It might work out, we might get a CB injury and it turns out Chambers steps in and is brilliant. But the way this usually works out is, Debuchy starts loads of games, Chambers will start a half dozen games, be barely used. Debuchy will get injured or leave after 2-3 years and CHambers, having barely played for years.... will look poor.

Chambers for 25+ starts, Jenks as rotation/cover and buying a quality left back would have done so so much more for the team.

This will be Robbo when United unveil a signing....any signing....

I think its fair to say that if we don't sign anyone of note before the start of the season we will be fairly sure that Woodwards claims of having the money to buy anyone we want is complete BS.

Was really impressed with him when he played for Saints, he's a defender first but by no means poor going forward.

Yup, nothing at all to do with LvG being involved in the world cup, only being with the team for what, under two weeks. All big companies worth billions rush multmillion pound decisions for the sake of appeasing fans. Also companies worth billions, who are floated on stock exchanges no less, lie about their finances, despite it being a crime under england and US law. So the millions we know they have in cash in hand, and the massive sponsorships and yearly finances which all show Utd can spend 200mil if they want.... all made up...... because they didn't rush to spend 100+ million in LvG's first two weeks in charge.

Yes it will do Utd's chances of winning a title of some kind, or getting top four, having players bought and training together now. But Utd is a building job. Moyes didn't get fired purely because he missed out on top four, he got fired because the team were getting worse by the game, had no plan, had no cohesion. There was absolutely no sign of improving at all. LvG has in every way had the worst possible summer to take over such a job. If the team misses out on top four but goes from "meh" at the start of the season to looking really good at the end, he wouldn't get fired and he'd get the second season to get into the top four.

He'll improve the team for the long term making the right decisions, not rushing in to the wrong ones.
