Will be interesting to see what Chelsea do re; home grown registered players.

Also; Atletico have potentially done very well this transfer market.

Huh, I thought Athletico had had a mare in general.

Lost:

Costa
Courtois
Luiz
Villa

Bought:

Griezman
Mandzukic

Sounds like a weakening no?

Diego barely played, Luiz is good and Villa was great but old.

Griezman probably offers as much/more than Villa does already, Mandzukic is a great player, they've bought two goal keepers, they've bought a replacement for Luiz, they've agreed a 2-3mil deal for the PSV wonder kid, 17yrs old but looking a real prospect.

Griezman has the potential to be better than Costa/Villa, in either position and the kid, whose name I keep forgetting, Zakiri or something along those lines, could genuinely be the next big thing.

They have replacements for everyone they sold, all high quality replacements, they've saved significant money in comparison to what they bought in and have added extra depth now, a younger player with bagloads of potential for a fantastic price, a spare keeper and they are looking at a couple of other players IIRC< a CB coming in and it looks like they'll have another couple of players by the end of the transfer window.

They have got potentially decent replacements for the players they have lost but Costa worked really well in the style that Athletico liked to play. They haven't done any more than replace proven players with potentially good ones.

I've never been massively convinced by Mandzukic either. Good striker but not amazing.

No Diego, not Diego Costa. Guy who played for Wolfsburg and went to Fenerbache at year end. A good player. Not amazing but good nonetheless.

Yep. Brazilian Diego left too.

I think Athletico are worse this season even though their signings are quite good. You can't lose so many important players in one window. The new guys need time to settle in, and with so many good players leaving, the current team will not feel as strong, and their motivation goes a bit down.

... and while we're nitpicking:

Luis is the Brazillian left back Chelsea signed from Atletico

Luiz is the Brazillian centre back that we sold to PSG after we uncovered compromising pictures of Al-Khelaifi and Laurent Blanc having an orgy with six vietnamese prostitutes, a sheep and three goats (the only thing that adequately explains the transfer fee).

Sky Sports are saying Southampton want Hernandez. £25m should do nicely, but Atletico Madrid is surely a far more likely destination.

Napoli have also confirmed their interest in Fellaini, so hopefully he'll be off soon.

I know prices are inflated at the moment but there is little chance of getting £25m for Hernandez from anyone. Something around £20m would be good business I think.

Who has more money Southampton or Atletico (and it shouldnt be as stupid a question as it sounds - both teams have been picked to pieced this summer) lol

Have a feeling Fellaini will go on loan

Also read No7 shirt at Utd has been reserved for that certain CM who shall not be named .....once he arrives from Italy.....lol (it would be strange a CM wearing a No7 - but it was only the Metro :D)

One side of me agrees with you - the other side where Chambers goes for £15m or whatever says Chicharito's experience is worth at least another £10m ontop lol.....bidding war!!! :D

Well Southampton have just taken the best part of £100m in transfer fees...

There's absolutely nothing new on Vidal, this latest stuff is all rehashed quotes.

There's talk today of Cavani coming to Chelsea for £40m...

On the face of it that doesn't sound likely. Costa would surely be first choice CF, so why would Cavani go from playing second-fiddle to Zlatan only to face the same thing with Costa? I suppose he might feel he has more chance of displacing Costa than Zlatan but still... Also - would PSG really be willing to sell him for £10m+ less than they paid just last year?

On the other hand... he's a workhorse type player - very much in the Mourinho mould. He'd certainly strengthen our attacking options - CF is definitely the weakest position in the squad so far as cover goes (Drogba is not a 90 minute option, and the less said about Torres the better).

As far as the money, £40m is certainly affordable for Chelsea given the sale of Luiz and Lukaku, and PSG seem very interested in Di Maria but need to sell players in order to meet the FFP rules [max 60m euros of net transfer spending was one of the FFP penalties imposed on them].

I don't think it'll happen, but it's not entirely crazy. Having two world-class centre forwards available would be a luxury Chelsea haven't had for a long long time.

It is a pretty stupid question, Courtois wasn't their player, Villa left for peanuts/nothing. Luis was about 16mil and Costa 32mil. They've signed Griezman for 30, a lb for 8mil, a keeper for 15mil, another keeper for about 3mil, a 21 yr old argy for about 5mil by the looks of thing and Zakaria for 2-3mil. They've spent more than they bought in already and are in in pretty heavy debt in general.

So, should be pretty easy to see who has more money.

Robbo, I would think Hernandez would choose Southampton over Atletico. He's signed a deal, got rich with Utd and found his chances severely limited. Does he want to sign for Atletico, who have Mandzukic and Griezman, both considered first team, or Southampton who are much much more likely to start him most games? As above though, Atletico have spent the best part of €85mil already, and they only got around 55mil from sales. They are much more likely at this point to buy a couple more youngsters/cheap players for cover than another 15+ mil player.
