If he wasn't why would they play him as a CM or a winger? If he was that good he would command his actual position up front surely.
I'm a bit bias as I have never really rated him for a while but I'm sure the new manager will give him a boost. Or he is up for contract renewal they he will be awesome until he signs![]()
28 million, we got our pants pulled down unless the repayments are very favourable. I don't think he will get much better and a lot of times is very lazy. I don't think he will ever be top 4 material and have said so many times.
Hell of a gamble for us. I hope it pays off. As I said I can't see us being better this year. We are just spending to tread water and hopefully stay the same but we won't finish as high.
He will be playing up front with RvP in the current system we're using...
Edit, on Vidal:
A load of Juventus fans were outside the training ground and were speaking to Vidal, they asked if he was staying but he just didn't say anything...![]()

The Vidal deal just looks like it will happen I think. I think I'll be more surprised if it doesn't happen. You never know though...
As mentioned earlier due to the real lack of either up and coming CBs or established quality CBs available I do wonder how LVG will address this weakness. Vermaelen doesn't really fill me with confidence as he barely played over the sloth Mertesacker and Wenger gives his players a lot of chances before he casts them out.
Oh well if he's scored so many league goals before the age of 21 it's a real coup that we got him ahead of Liverpool, City, United, Bayern, Barca, Madrid/s etc that those players on the list are from. Or it could be we paid 28m for potential when no one else would.
Clearly from that list he's going to be better than Ronaldo. I still feel it was 10m too much but the payments seem good.

Vidal being open to leaving isn't in doubt, but there isn't a shred of evidence, aside from rife speculation, that we're actually trying to sign him.
Of course, given how we know LvG rates him and we can easily double/more his wages, it would be complete insanity if we weren't in for him.

Hmm, I am just worried that we are not in for him based on nothing happening so far. All the other big clubs have pretty much finished their transfer business bar a few and we have barely got started.
We are one of the teams that needs major work doing to it so its surprising we haven't wrapped up more deals. I know LvG wants to see how good his squad is but lets be honest, even at their best we have plenty of players that are not amazing.
Fletcher, Cleverley, Young, Hernandez are never going to be first choice and there are players better than them that should still only be squad players.
You forgot Anderson..... yes he's still a Manchester United player..
On the Rooney front if it was me I'd have sold him last Summer. I think he's on his last legs as a 'top' player. He peaked so young that you have to wonder if he's got another consistently good season in him.
He had a cracking season last season though didn't he. He's still a top player.
Where is he! Haven't seen hide nor hair of him for a very long time. I thought he had gone out on loan at some point last season but I haven't heard any mention of him in pre season stuff.

Rooney, and Mata have both looked very fresh and sharp pre season. Easily the two stand out players (along with Herrera).
I was calling for Rooney's head last year but he looks a different player. The Van Gaal effect.
Anderson went out on Loan to Fiorentina with the idea they'd like what they saw and hand over some cash.
They didn't and he came back.
He didn't go on the tour and MU would welcome any offer.
