Not directly transfer news, but in case anyone has missed it: Ronaldo's double punch of Godin in the Atletico-Real match:



If Ronaldo is banned for a number of games, could this affect the Di Maria sale?

I am not excusing him but wtf was Godin doing as well.
 
Obviously madness from Ronaldo but I find that double 'punch' glorious viewing, Godin is a complete and utter ****.

More than grappling! He had his whole arm around his neck and wouldn't let go! Looked like he was trying to get him in a headlock.

Although I agree, Ronaldo shouldn't have punched him like that.
 
I don't think that is actually a punch hay-maker style, it's more wrestling style trying to get a guys arm off you as Godin is has his arm/hand around Ronaldo. Where you swing your arm up and down on the guys arm to get it to bend and lose grip.

Was odd at the time they had a terrible angle and one replay and I couldn't really tell what was going on. Godin is I think a brilliant defender but he's certainly got a lot of Vidic/Chiellini in him, manhandles the hell out of players in the box and gets up to all sorts of winding up, knees in the back and huge dirty fouls at times too.

At most because it would likely be called swinging to get the guys arm off him not a punch he might get a red card, they won't keep Di Maria for an entire season over something like that.
 
Godin really shouldn't have had his arm wrapped around his neck like that though. Both as bad as each other really.
