Vidal would be the best signing UTD have made in many a year, they never replaced Roy Keane and this would be a step to doing that.

even in the teams that have won the prem in the last few years you always thought the likes of Chelsea & City had a better CM pairing

Benatia to Bayern done deal all over twitter, €26M + €4m add-ons.

Seria A's best CB, that's relatively cheap for a fantastic player.

Definitely a cracking buy for Bayern. Can't believe that United would pass up a defender of his quality given their needs in that area. Maybe the player didn't want to come to Manchester?

Bayern Munich or Manchester United.. not a tough decision looking back over the past few seasons and at their future prospects is it? United are in the position now that Man City were in when their sugar daddy owners first took over.. success in the short term is going to be hard to come by unless they throw vast amounts of money around.

Six or so years ago a player would have gone to United every time if they were offering the same amount of money as City did, how times have changed...

To be honest, he probably chose Bayern over Man United. I probably would at this moment in time :p A shame because at that price he is a bargain.

Of course that's true, but surely United would have been in the position to offer much higher wages for the player, and a bigger transfer fee to the club?

Anyway, I'm sure he'll do a great job for Bayern - defence is their only relatively weak area and he can definitely strengthen them. It's just that with so few top-class CBs on the market and such a great need at Manchester, I'm surprised there wasn't more of an effort to bring him in.

^^ I think he's spot on. Di Maria will be a really, really good signing in that position. Last season for Madrid he was incredible at getting the ball deep(ish) and driving forward with it. United's biggest issue is transitioning from defence to attack. Great signing, despite the high price.

Vidal would complement him perfectly, but even without signing him, Di Maria will make a giant difference.

It will be very exciting if we sign Vidal as well. A midfield and forward line of Vidal,Herrera,Mata,Di Maria,Rooney and Van Persie is pretty awesome ( in know all 6 might not work in a system together but still).

I would imagine that if we are stalling over Vidal it will be due to his injuries. As a united fan the last thing we need is another Hargreaves on our hands quality player or not so I can understand the clubs concerns.

Taking their time with the Di Maria announcement?! Maybe they'll wait until tomorrow as there's a game on tonight (watch them announce it now :p). Confirmation on Sky he's just passed his medical.

If we are trying to sign Vidal (and it sounds like we are), we'll be using his knee as leverage in the deal. Juventus turning down a large amount of cash for him is as risky as us buying him, and we can afford the risk more than them. Apparently Vidal himself has agreed to an appearance based contract, which will help if true. He played 45 minutes last week for Juventus so his knee is fit and he seems okay, for now at least.
