I'm gutted Daws has gone. I think he had a lot to offer by staying at Spurs. The idea that he was a poor defender is just nonsense. He was the lynchpin of the defence that conceded very few in the good times under Arry and AVB. When Spurs were pap, he was unfairly highlighted as being out of position but this was often when he was trying to be a one man back four as the rest of the defence had gone walkabout. There was a stat floating around that Spurs actually had a really tight defence under Harry for a while (before everything went to crap); Dawson was crucial to that.

A high line does not suit him at all because he is slow but he will show his worth in any defence built to his strengths/to cover his weaknesses.

Daws, Ledders and VdV were the only Spurs players I can think of who truly gave everything for the badge. Keeping him at the club to help foster that attitude in the younger players would have been the smart thing to do.

We don't really have any really senior players in the club anymore. I hope we get some experience in.

I honestly don't get why some teams/managers are so dumb. Dawson, really? There are quite a lot of CB's around who aren't the slowest human beings on earth. He has cost Spurs a quite insane number of points though mistakes and a load more through complete lack of pace.

I don't think that £6mil is an outrageous price for Dawson. He might not have any pace but he's only 30 and incredibly good in the air. If you don't play with a high line, he's a decent defender.

They've managed it pretty sustainably for ten years or so. Hicks and Gillette more or less bankrupted us in three. If the Glazers are still going they aren't doing that badly.

United have restructured their debts a couple of times since the Glazers took over. If the banks think they'll pay it back, I trust their judgment more than yours.
