Well, tomorrow will be interesting (as always). Hope Falcao doesn't end up at City...

Chelsea's business will surely be done though? The only question is regarding the extra foreign player (we have 18, and max is 17). My solution would be not to register Schwarzer until January - Blackman can come in at a push if we have keeper injuries. Seems like Van Ginkel going to Milan on loan is still a possibility though.

All in all quite pleased with the transfer window as a whole. I would have preferred to keep Kalas and loan Christiensen, and perhaps a slightly better replacement for Torres than Remy, but I'm quite happy with the squad we've built this summer. A big improvement on last season, and at a roughly zero net spend as well - particularly impressive given that we lost a couple of long-term first team players (Lampard and Cole).

Ake is primarily a left-back, but if we had injuries on the right then Azpilicueta would surely move to his natural right-back position. Willian and Ramires will see plenty of first team action as well, when we need a more possession-oriented approach.

Van Ginkel to Milan on loan seems pretty much done: http://www.acmilan.com/en/news/breaking_news_show/63711

Wise move, as he's obviously unlikely to get a great deal of first team football at Chelsea this season.

Hmm... mixed feelings about this, but overall I agree - he missed most of last season and he certainly needs game time. Hopefully he can come back next season to take the place of Mikel or Ramires.

It leaves us with 5 players for 3 midfield places now though. Not ideal... If everyone stays fit then that will be plenty, but an injury or two will mean the remaining players starting a lot of games. I suppose Willian would work well enough as a CAM if needs be.

edit: Hope we don't have any injuries during AFCON - Mikel will be gone for that. We'll lose Drogba as well I suppose.

I can't believe I'm going to miss all the deadline day fun tomorrow while I'm at work :(

Amateur. Should have booked the day off.

re; Falcao, he's one of, if not the best, forwards when attacking, he's considerably less good when he has his back to goal, so I'm not entirely sure how he'd fit in at Manchester United, I think he could suit a team like Arsenal well as long as he's getting on the end of things, not playing with his back to goal.

Not surprised, he's a poacher when getting on the end of cross's coming in all the time, he'll get that Real, he won't get that at United with a 5-3-2. Loan deal remember, so United can have him back as soon as they get some wingers sorted. He'd lost the bit between his teeth at United as well, SAF definitely got the best out of him that one year. He hasn't looked the same since.

With all these players going/rumoured to be going surely we're making multiple signings tomorrow

From a Colombian journalist:

"If the City sells to Negredo in the next few hours I could stand in the business , but will be difficult because already all advance to MU "

Falcao to United would be the craziest signing of the summer! I hope it comes off to be honest... Much rather see him at United than at City or Arsenal.

Absolutely nuts - 65m euros and how many strikers can Utd play at once (unless rvp is going under the knife which he probably should anyway by the sounds of things).

Captain going to be used in midfield? Even with Herrera (who I rate) and Blind - who should be able to do a job there in holding capacity) I cant see this working at all.

IF this deal goes through its ALL about marketing and nothing about the team and what it needs (and the board and EW have completely lost their heads).

Just because you can doesn't mean you should (and that could go for Di Maria as much as Falcao)

Hopefully just a big windup

Falcao to city makes sense for me. He'll be on the cheap and they can afford his wages, especially if Negredo goes. If Negredo does leave he'll go back to Spain IMO, maybe Ath Madrid would be an option .

Liverpool's transfers will be exciting.....sigh. I wish we didn't get all our business done already, ruins deadline day.

Rodgers out :(

Re Vidal and co. Unless something is in motion already I just can't see United pulling that off...to agree and sort the kind of fee they'll need to pay...I can't see it.

City NEED to sell Negredo, or otherwise free up ~£30m of cash, in order to buy Falcao and still meet the FFP transfer restrictions that were put on them (€60m max net spend this window).

City could definitely accomodate him... Aguero and Falcao scares me - that would be the deadliest strike force in the premiership by far (if they can stay fit). Arsenal probably have the greatest need for him, but I can't see Wenger dropping £55m or matching the £200k+ wages that City or United will undoubtedly offer. I really hope he goes to United though, purely for the comedy value.

As a Chelsea fan deadline day won't be too interesting for me either. Not sure it's a bad thing though - all our business was done early (other than the Remy/Torres thing), and the squad has had time to settle. Exciting though deadline day is when you're chasing players, I'd always take early completion of business. But who knows - maybe we're chasing a super secret monster deal? (Pogba? Jose please :p)
