No defence, no midfield and yet seemingly willing to splash circa 50 million on a striker recovering from an ACL? Bonkers.

is it a loan, its a straight up purchase, who knows. Welcome to the merrygoround!

United, lol.

Are Van Persie and Rooney crap all of a sudden? Don't see Falcao as being the player they need.

No creativity = no goals. Doesn't matter who you've got up top.

Dodgy defence = leak crap goals.

Just throwing money at it now.

Why would he sign at United on loan if other clubs are interested in buying? is this with a view to a long term deal if United can qualify for the Champions League?

A loan? That isn't so bad as long as the fee isn't too high. I was about to lose it with united if we were going to buy him outright for £50 million +

£12 million for the loan isn't too bad. Especially when you consider he probably only has 2 more seasons playing at his peak anyway. Buying him for 50 million + would have been stupid.

We've got creativity but we're weak in a defensive sense no matter how you look at it. Might as well try and get a defender or holding player on loan now too?!

Falcao is one hell of a player though, how have we pulled this off. :o

Its a vast amount of money for a loan, hate to say it, but I really don't think Falcao is right for the English game. I may be proved very wrong by the end of the season, but Falcao to Utd, for some reason just doesn't invoke fear.

Based on precisely what part of his game does it look like he'd be poor in the english game, seriously. People say this all the time, firstly as if the premier league is some magical league in which it's more difficult to play football.

That 99.9% of transfers over the years do find in the english league and really have no problem at all, like 4-5 high profile "flops" over a decade or two somehow means good players might struggle here?

Seriously though what is it specifically about Falcao's game that would suggest he'd suck in England. Is it his ridiculous strength, his epically good movement, his brilliant timing, his immense power, his powerful accurate and intelligent finishing..... or is it just dropping a cliche that someone feels the need to say at some point during the transfer of any foreigner to this league for no apparent reason?

No I know that. Its £12m. Which I still think is a vast amount of money for a loan for 1 season. A million a month to borrow someone.

If he smashes in goals and gets us back into the top 4, then it's a great bit of business.

If you've watched at the beginning of the season, we are ridiculously static up top, Rooney and RVp just haven't clicked, against burnley they had no idea what the other was doing.

Extremely happy with Falcao, now I want De Jong as a stop gap/squad signing til January and perhaps Strootman being bought.

Based upon nothing.

Its just a hunch.

Stats are not always the be all and end all of everything. If they were, then Stoke wouldn't have beaten Man City and Sturridge wouldn't have ended with 20+ goals last season in the league.

Based on nothing, but a hunch I feel. As I said, my hunch may end up to be shown to be incorrect. Only time will tell. So reign your damn neck in.

Just read the fee is £9 million. Not so bad, especially if it means the difference between champions league football or not.

Absolutely..hopefully that's what will happen, because the EPL is a more interesting place with a competitive Utd

Based on, Drogba being instrumental at 33-34 to the champs league, Ibra going from strength to strength, got himself a hat trick last night and he's been brilliant for club and country in the past season. Which magical strikers hit 30 and disappeared? Nonsense.

Seriously we had 3-4 years where anyone even close to 30 was being said to be almost at the end of their career... then we had a few seasons of players ranging from 30-40 proving how ridiculous that was, but now all of a sudden we're back to the he's almost 30 so he's almost done nonsense.

His game isn't particularly about pace, but intelligent movement, he's incredibly strong, he's a smart finisher. He's a truly excellent striker and he's likely got another 4-5 years at least to come from him frankly.
