If it was Kenny and his love of BIG.little forward partnerships I could understand, but Rodgers... it might boost the squad depth for a marginal fee, but I can't see how he'd fit into the style at all... unless Rodgers is thinking of a plan B, as we were lacking a little in that department last year.

So Lambert, possibly Lallana... just need to be linked with Shaw and Rodriquez now. :p

Looks like the Lambert rumour started from a fake account, or?

It started from SkyBet when they made us odds on to sign him.

If he turns out to be 4th choice and we're still in the market for a better 3rd choice striker then I wouldn't have much of a problem signing him.

edit: and SSN's breaking story that omnomnom mentioned is the Lambert to Liverpool stuff.

I like Lambert but that would be a real turn up for him to go to Liverpool, can't see him fitting in there whatsoever.

Why's that? He wouldn't be a natural replacement for either of Sturridge or Suarez if they were out but at the same time he's had no problem fitting in at Southampton where they play fairly similarly to us.

As a cheap 4th choice striker that's happy to be a bit part player we could do a lot worse.
I think he's being used to lower Lallanas fee....pay more for Lambert, less for Lallana and therefore less to Bournemouth.

I hope that's the case if the £8m SSN just mentioned is true.

Well for a start he'd be playing 3rd (at best) fiddle, I don't really see how that would appeal to him, unless he fancies less game time. I do appreciate obviously playing for a club of the stature of Liverpools is a draw, but he can pretty much kiss his international career goodbye if he becomes a bench warmer. Suarez is like granite, so it's not like he will have a massive amount of opportunities through injury!

Secondly, I don't really see Southampton as being overly familiar to Liverpools style. Lambert is hardly all about pace, so I just don't see him fitting the mold.

Don't see it personally, it's not a fit for either imo. It'd be a surprising transfer.

Boyhood Liverpool fan getting his first and last big break? I can see him jumping at the chance to join us.

Southampton played a high tempo pressing game, just like we do. He managed to fit into a team playing like that before, I can't see a reason why he can't again. That said, I don't see him being anything more than cover, hopefully behind Suarez, Sturridge and one more.

It's certainly a surprise though and if the fees that are being reported are true then I suspect it's a way of shafting Bournemouth out of their sell on fee for Lallana.

I hear what you're saying about the draw, but he's what, 32/33? He must know he only has 1/2 years at the top left.... if it was me, I don't think i'd want to spend those years sat on the bench 75% of the time. But then, i've never had the opportunity.

I always saw Southampton as being hard working, and a pressing side without the ball but not very similar to Liverpool going forward, who are all about pace and being direct. Southampton do have a pace in the likes of Rodriguez but nothing blistering. I'm not saying he couldn't do a job for Liverpool as i'm sure he can but he's not a player that immediately springs to mind when you think about Liverpool. Unless Rodgers is seeing him as an alternate option if things aren't going well.

Start of the transfer window, that's a signing that I never even considered to be on the cards!

Have to say, I didn't expect Lambert to be among the numerous departures but more because I didn't envisage anyone else wanting him :p

Southampton are going to be deep in a relegation battle next season at this rate, unless Miss Liebherr announces some sort of £500m spending pot and we turn into Man City overnight.

If Saurez bites someone or Sturridge gets injured I think he's a good option to have, but I'd prefer someone a bit better as a 3rd option.

Man C have Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetic
Chelsea have Torres, Ba, Eto'o
Manu have Rooney, Persie, Hernandez, Welbeck

We definitely need a decent 3rd option up top and maybe a not so good 4th (get Borini back?)

You've lost one man (the manager who doesn't openly speak English). Don't get too pessimistic too soon.

Lambert is an utterly bizarre signing (if true), would fit a style of play we seemed to transition away from IMO (think the destruction of spurs at their place). Maybe we'll see more of that style of again next year rather than the pacey destruction we saw 2nd half of the season?

Was saying we are slow movers in the transfer market the other day and apparently we've thrown in 3 offers today in Lambert, Moreno and Sanchez (according to some sections of the Spanish media)...interesting!

I quite like Lambert.

I have really enjoyed watching Liverpool this season.

I just would not have put the two together. I half expected Liverpool to bring in a ... well younger forward really.

Wow i thought this was just Twitter ******** but now it sounds like it'll all be done and dusted by Sunday. Was ready to accept Shaw and Lallana going but Rickie? Less than 24 hours after the chairman said no transfers until a new manager is in place....what a ****.

I don't recall any transfer windows where so many players have been linked away from one club, plenty of time to get replacements in i suppose but to the current level of those outgoing? Not bloody likely.
