I'd be very happy to resign Vela IF we use him, if we've decided his value has gone up, buy him for cheap and sell him 6-12 months later for 20+mil, I'll prefer Sociedad don't get screwed out of a proper fee.
Remy is a difficult one, France and occasionally Newcastle played him out wide, Podolski kind of position but mostly he seems a counter attacking type lone striker. I'm not sure how good his interplay is, not sure he can start upfront for Arsenal nor offer enough from the wing.
It's possible Remy's all around game is great, but at both QPR and Newcastle he just wasn't in the sides to really show it but from what I've seen I don't think Remy would fit in to Wenger's arsenal. Part of a front two, sure, great on the counter, sure, but against a great defence where you need good interplay/passing/vision I don't know Remy has that. Vela I think makes a very good wide attacker or striker and his passing, crossing, vision, interplay are all great.
Fabregas should be brought back though. Flamini has had a LOT of injury problems in the past five years and missed key games due to injury this season(and more due to stupid cards). The last time he started 30+ games a season waswith Arsenal.... in 07/08, since then he's been averaging about 16-18 starts in the league and missed one entire season through injury. He hasn't started 20 league games since he left Arsenal.
Arteta isn't good enough any more, Ramsey is poor defensively, Wilshire is injured too often. Ozil is crap in big games, Cazorla is going to be 30 by xmas, wasn't hugely impressive this year, 4 goals out of 73 shots and his record over 2 seasons in the champs league has been poor, 1 assist in 11 starts, 16 shots, no goals.
If we sign Fabregas he becomes the best player in the team AND the most versatile, can play as a striker, anywhere across midfield, can offer defensive strength that Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla/Podolski/Walcott can't offer at all. Giving us options to add some strength to a midfield 3, say against Chelsea dropping Ozil(who has been useless in such games) and putting in Fabregas you have a big game player who will do more offensively but is also MUCH stronger defensively.
I think ideally we should be seeing if anyone wanted Ozil or Cazorla and bringing in Fabregas, because with Fabregas we can easily lose one of those two and financially it would be a bit wasteful to have all three. I said when we bought Ozil that he both wasn't as good as people thought but most importantly, that Cazorla is poor out wide.
We really need to sign a proper defensive midfielder, someone better than Flamini but also capable of starting 40-50 games a season. Using Flamini as back up/rotation and sometimes as part of a two DM ultra strong midfield against certain teams.
But then it wouldn't remotely matter if we didn't buy at least one very decent fullback. Right back without question but Gibbs has been a very very weak link in the team also. I haven't seen much to suggest Monreal is great but given 10 games in a row and some form you never really know. I suspect we need to buy in quality at left back though for a serious improvement.
