Man U is an interesting one. I think it's better to do your deals at the start of the window, but maybe Man U hadn't sorted their manager out early enough to do this? I'm very glad they aren't going for Fabregas.

Chelsea have been good on this recently, looks like we'll have our major signings all sorted before the world cup starts. :)

So for what must be the third time we have agreed a deal for Monreo ? I hope its true wish it would just get done, One min we haven't then hour later we have :/

Hope so! If we have, that's three players and the summer has barely started. Seems like we've really learnt from last summer.

I'm sure someone not a million miles from here not that long ago said that fibreglass wouldn't be sold for anything near £40 million, but in fact, for much, much less.

It's looking likely this will be the case.

That's Keita to Roma.

If we're not going to bring Fabregas back we'd better have a stupendously amazing player lined up. I appreciate we have a lot of midfielders but with our injury record I'm very surprised at this.

If we only end up signing somebody like Remy/Vela the atmosphere at the first game next season will be hostile to say the least. I can't think who's available though.

I gave up listening to transfer news after last season. Higuain was signed and sealed by Arsenal according to most media.

Also be very surprised if Arsenal don't show any interest, yes we have plenty of players but fabregas is better than any of them.

I don't expect anything to happen until teams start dropping out. Roll on the WC and let's get these teams knocked out lol

I'd be very happy to resign Vela IF we use him, if we've decided his value has gone up, buy him for cheap and sell him 6-12 months later for 20+mil, I'll prefer Sociedad don't get screwed out of a proper fee.

Remy is a difficult one, France and occasionally Newcastle played him out wide, Podolski kind of position but mostly he seems a counter attacking type lone striker. I'm not sure how good his interplay is, not sure he can start upfront for Arsenal nor offer enough from the wing.

It's possible Remy's all around game is great, but at both QPR and Newcastle he just wasn't in the sides to really show it but from what I've seen I don't think Remy would fit in to Wenger's arsenal. Part of a front two, sure, great on the counter, sure, but against a great defence where you need good interplay/passing/vision I don't know Remy has that. Vela I think makes a very good wide attacker or striker and his passing, crossing, vision, interplay are all great.

Fabregas should be brought back though. Flamini has had a LOT of injury problems in the past five years and missed key games due to injury this season(and more due to stupid cards). The last time he started 30+ games a season waswith Arsenal.... in 07/08, since then he's been averaging about 16-18 starts in the league and missed one entire season through injury. He hasn't started 20 league games since he left Arsenal.

Arteta isn't good enough any more, Ramsey is poor defensively, Wilshire is injured too often. Ozil is crap in big games, Cazorla is going to be 30 by xmas, wasn't hugely impressive this year, 4 goals out of 73 shots and his record over 2 seasons in the champs league has been poor, 1 assist in 11 starts, 16 shots, no goals.

If we sign Fabregas he becomes the best player in the team AND the most versatile, can play as a striker, anywhere across midfield, can offer defensive strength that Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla/Podolski/Walcott can't offer at all. Giving us options to add some strength to a midfield 3, say against Chelsea dropping Ozil(who has been useless in such games) and putting in Fabregas you have a big game player who will do more offensively but is also MUCH stronger defensively.

I think ideally we should be seeing if anyone wanted Ozil or Cazorla and bringing in Fabregas, because with Fabregas we can easily lose one of those two and financially it would be a bit wasteful to have all three. I said when we bought Ozil that he both wasn't as good as people thought but most importantly, that Cazorla is poor out wide.

We really need to sign a proper defensive midfielder, someone better than Flamini but also capable of starting 40-50 games a season. Using Flamini as back up/rotation and sometimes as part of a two DM ultra strong midfield against certain teams.

But then it wouldn't remotely matter if we didn't buy at least one very decent fullback. Right back without question but Gibbs has been a very very weak link in the team also. I haven't seen much to suggest Monreal is great but given 10 games in a row and some form you never really know. I suspect we need to buy in quality at left back though for a serious improvement.

Madness that none of the epl top teams went for him, especially last season when he was out of contract. Really good player imo.

Really? I haven't seem him play at Valencia to be honest, and before that he played in China (for £14M a year apparently :eek::eek:). He was out of contract at Valencia, and although they wanted to renew his contract, he wanted to play in the Champion's League.

I didn't really like his signing, as he is old (lack of motivation maybe) and he needs to adapt to a new league and a new language. Roma got rid of Taddei who had a similar profile, but he has been at the club for around 10 years I think.

Spanish media still speak highly about him though, so I'm hoping for the best :D:D

What's up with Fabregas now then, why don't Barca want him?

Fans don't really like him, doesn't suit the style of play, new manager not bothered about keeping him. They'd rather have the money for Koke, and/or Rakitic (who they've already signed by the sound of it).

I know DM will pop up with a wall of stats and say this is all rubbish, but those are the reasons being given, I'm not saying I agree with all of them.

It was the same last summer, but it appears we didn't make a good enough offer at the time.

I'm surprised Bayern aren't in for him, Pep likes him doesn't he?

Is he still the same player he was when he left Arsenal?
If he is I wouldn't mind him although if we're getting Costa too we'll be close to our quota of ***** in the team.

Difficult to say really, he's still very good.

Please. Please. Please. Please.

I love him as a player but he's nearly 30, it would have to be cheap to be worth it otherwise it's just another Van Persie.

At the moment I'd have absolutely no problem with us signing him. He'll give us at least 2-3 seasons and in that time we can sort out younger midfield targets.

What about Sneijder? LVG loves him too.

No Sneijder rumours yet, but he plays further forward where we can't fit him in. :p

If Chelsea manage to get Fabregas and Costa for not much more than the price of that sideshow bob lookalike I will be outraged. They will also be firm favourites to win the PL next season.
