Chelsea will continue to meet FFP. They have constantly been reducing their wage bill (it is roughly the same as Arsenal's now and much less than Man U's and City's) and have been selling players to cover their acquisitions.

Luiz was just sold for £40mil+, Costa and Cesc would be about £60mil combined so the difference is very manageable, especially with increased prem revenues.

They may well continue to meet it anyway, my point was merely that FFP considerations are going to be nowhere near the top of the big spenders' priority until the punishment is sufficient to make them take notice.

I think if we got him last year it would have proved to have been the wrong buy for us. Kagawa, Mata, Rooney all occupy the same position as what Fabregas would do. Makes no sense to buy Fabregas when we are covered for that kind of midfielder. Unless of course he plays much deeper but his skill set lends him to being a more offensive midfielder ?

I think had we got Fab last summer we wouldn't have bought Mata. As it is, we did buy Mata so unless Fab is going to come over to play defensive midfield it's probably the wrong buy. :p

Metro have gone crazy about Schweinsteiger moving to Man U today. Can't see it personally but it would be nice if true.

Metro are generally worthless, however there is a lot of talk in Germany and among journalists that Pep doesn't want him, so he could be available.

He knows Van Gaal too, which would work in our favour.

He's a Bayern club man though so I doubt any deal would be straightforward, but if he isn't going to play under Pep, he might be happy to move on. They can give his wages to Kroos (who Pep loves).

Oh, and:

Arsenal have informed Barcelona they won't be exercising buy-back option on Fabregas. He was keen but #afc not seeking a creative midfielder

Fabregas now open to market & future likely to be sorted in next few weeks. #Afc priority striker & right-back + will get back-up goalkeeper

Going to be devastating seeing Fab at another Prem club next season :(
He is a true Arsenal legend and it's a shame he's available at a time we don't 'need' him.

well at least without moyes no one has a clue what united are doing just speculation so LVG is already a big improvement from last year :)

Cellino saying Leeds have rejected a bid from Newcastle for McCormack. Although Newcastle are saying they haven't bid for him! :D

I have a hunch you won't see him in the Premiership next season. I just don't know where he would go - all the teams that could afford him and wages don't seem interested or have stumbling blocks (i.e Mourinho).

I can only hope he doesnt come back to the EPL unless its back to us. Im actually quite fabergasted(pardon the pun):p that so far no other big Euro team has put any interest in him ie teams from Italy, Germany or France...not sure he would play for another Spain based team.

But after all the banging of drums that Barca did to try and get him back to Barca, less than 4 yrs hes up for sale...quite bewildering really as i thought he would have been a future replacement for Xavi or Iniesta. Seeing as Xavi is getting on a bit now who is going to be the long term replacement for him.

I kinda hope that Fab will stay at Barca for another season though. Looking at his stats since he went there...he's been one of their best players. But i suppose their new manager wants a new look to the squad next season.

Why are the tabloids going Fabregas Chelsea done for 33m? Firstly this is the same Jose Mourinho hated in Spain and who hates the Spanish Barcelona style. Second this is the same Mourinho who poked a Barcelona manager in the eye. And third this is the same Mourinho who was told to "shut up" a few times in the papers by the same Cesc Fabregas?

I will be utterly shocked if Chelsea can out FFP United on Fabregas considering Woodward chased him all last summer for nothing. Infact it would prove without doubt that United have been run by morons for the last year or two who are content to just throw out months of planning on a whim.

To be fair Rofflay, whilst Fabregas is world class, do United really need him?

He's just going to want to play where Rooney/Mata/Kagawa all do and it's going to be a nightmare to keep all of them happy.

Probably better to let him move somewhere he'll be the centre of the team rather than on a squad rotation, and instead chase players for the positions where we're short on class.

Our worst area is midfield creation and workrate so good question. It is difficult in a 4-3-3 to accomodate all of our players in thier favoured positions but we are lucky to of bought versatile Mata as well. I think in a 4-2-3-1 with Rooney Mata Janujaz there is room further back for a pivot player like Fabregas if he can have a hardworking partner who is world class. In a 4-3-3 you could argue United could (If LVG wanted) play posession with two playmakers and a holder so again i think Fabregas or Kroos would be a good buy for the prices both are being touted at. Ideally a few seasons ago a player like them would have cost £50m

The key obviously is what to do with Carrick and who will be the destroyer. Personally i am not a fan of the dual destroyer formation in 4-2-3-1 as i feel with 6 defensive players it is slightly negative and reactionary compared to 5 defensive and 5 offensive.

You do know the manager that wanted Cesc has gone?

Should all teams still be chasing targets of the previous manager? All it proves is moyes wanted him the club went after him and the new manager isn't interested in him. No idea how that makes it a club run by morons?
