Raymond Lin said:EXACTLY, I haven't seen it yet but i know Michael Bay's work so i know exactly what to expect.
Do people expect performances out of Godfather, and the plot of Usual Suspect? Think about it, its a film about giant robots from outer space fighting, directe by a guy who did The Rock, Bad boys I & II, Armageddon. Some of the biggest blockbusters of all time and damn good at it. This is his bread and butter and he doesn't tried to hide it. Personally I think he's the best director for summer blockbusters, Spielberg doesn't compare(He makes things too mellow dramatic)

This isn't spot on at all. For you to suggest that the reason people were disappointed with this film was because they were expecting dialogue or a storyline of the highest order is crazy.
It's an above average action flick, nothing more. Absolutely nothing about it makes it stand out from any other generic action movie. If you were being honest with yourself you KNOW it could and should have been SO much more than it was. Some of it was exciting, some funny, a little too much of it was cringe-worthy and cheesy.
Massive opportunity wasted this, a real shame. They were clearly too caught up in restarting the franchise (toys, books, McD etc etc) that they had to make it a 12A so that it could be accessible to the most amount of people.

Some people on here seemed to be expecting that.. DreXeL just set them straight!Tried&Tested said:This isn't spot on at all. For you to suggest that the reason people were disappointed with this film was because they were expecting dialogue or a storyline of the highest order is crazy.
Agreed. But the average action movie is enjoyable, and this Transformers was pretty damn fun to watch.Tried&Tested said:It's an above average action flick, nothing more.
Like what exactly? An action movie is always going to be an action movie! As for Transformers, what made it stand out from other action movies, was, well.. the clue is in the title.Tried&Tested said:Absolutely nothing about it makes it stand out from any other generic action movie.
Don't assume i'm not being honest with myself. It was a film about children's toys made by Michael-'omgboom!!1'-Bay. It was the best it ever could have been. Sure, a different director could have done it different, but at the end of the day it was going to revolve around making the robots look cool, and the fights look cool. What else could you have?Tried&Tested said:If you were being honest with yourself you KNOW it could and should have been SO much more than it was. Do I ruin my childhood memories by watching this?
