Transport Fever

It's addictive, came across a bug in the campaign which stopped me playing:( I decided to start the free mode on a large map, it's hard trying to get resources together to supply a city when they are spread over a the map. I may have to rework my mess of a network into something more manageable.

Which campaign was this on?

Only ask as I'm currently playing through them.

It's so so addictive, even if I'm **** at it!

Yeah game is addictive :(

I love how they have done the aircraft rather then as an after thought in terms of detail, put decent amount of detail into everything like landing gear, door wheels, flaps and what not, looks pretty nice. Also pretty surprised, did not think they would work well, but with some of the large maps and distances and even neighbouring cities they come into thier own.

Only meh thing I have found is ships! Some amazing routes to be had with them, but if they are too long industry never gets going quick enough with their very slow speed!

Not sure but it is about the 5th map, you have to start your first airline from one island to another. If I remember rightly it has a sunken ship somewhere.

Is it better to use full load for cargo or to just use normal load orders? I seemed to find that using normal load orders increased the production since the train wasn't waiting for ages, but maybe I was just using too many train cars. Does the frequency affect production?

Believe it or not -

I was playing transport tycoon the other day and thought why nobody has bothered to remake that game. And about a week later this dropped. :)

That mission on American campaign crashed initially for me also. Fired it up again and completed fine. I think at the moment just need to save more often then normal with the game. Was an awsome mission though, first proper use of planes and I love em :D

Frequency does play a role and for that reason I usually do not set the train's to wait for full loads. Leave frequency too low and it will have an impact with the production chain running much slower. On the details tab of a factory it will tell you if you need more of a specific material or where the weak link in the chain is which could help to shed some light.

Can I deliver fuel to a freight station then get another train to pick it up and deliver it elsewhere?

Should be able too. You need to create the next link in the chain however as that seems to act as a signal. So the second train would already need to be created with oil tanks and the path set up for the fuel to be dropped off at the fright station.

I use something similar to distribute all my good within the cities. A main trunk trainline coming in with all the goods. Said goods get transferred to a Cargo hub next to the trainstation and lorries take it from the cargo hub deeper into the city and various smaller hubs.

I've just set it up and it works:) Just topped 300 ppl at one station now I need to expand the station, now I need to demolish large chunks of the city.

I think this is the thing I like the most about this game compared to TTD. It forces you to actually build transport networks where as in TTD you could make a ton of money with completely separate goods routes since you didn't need to complete the chain the make money in the long run. Enjoying it a lot more now that I've experimented a bit and have a better idea of what works.

To those who have it and are playing, how strong a Transport Tycoon vibe are you getting from this? Does it hold up well against the classic?

Very strong vibe.

But I think the UI needs work. But once you get over that it's a very good game. More complexity in areas than Transport Tycoon.

If they can invest more time on the UI in the next release I think it's a winner.

Yeah the UI can be a bit annoying and it's the only bad point I've found so far. They need to make a small change so that when the windows pop up they stay on the screen, constantly having to drag them around so I can see them

Yep strong vibe, but plenty of changes and for the better IMO. Laying road and tracks is much smoother, in particular when crossing roads over tracks, tracks over tracks and so on. Was a right nightmare in Train Fever, much much better here.

20 min rule is also gone so you do not randomly have people / cargo dissapearing from trains / buses or whatever midway through a journey.

Performance is also noticeably smoother. On Fever late game mid map was always grinding to a halt, here not quiet as much which for me is a big +

The AI is clever, I've linked a lot of routes together with city's and factories and goods are just automatically being rerouted between stations without me doing anything. I'm thinking how on earth has that got their and after tracing the goods back to their source, I realised once I had linked several networks together the AI started producing more goods.

Downloaded it, really, REALLY liking this at the minute - Seems very in depth and just seems to work, very happy, looking forward to sinking some hours in over the weekend!

Agreed with someone else the UI needs a slight change here and there, but gameplay is awesome

OK...

I do hope someone can help me.

I'm currently trying to complete the European Campaign No. 2 (Bridge Disaster). I managed to do the first part of the mission and get Coal & Iron Ore to my Steel Mill.

I've now been asked to supply the construction site on the other side of the river, so I've built a harbor (freight) on both sides and a single shipyard. Ship built and a line setup between to the two harbors.

The harbor on the steel mill side is connected to my previously constructed train track and a 3rd train added to supply the harbor with finished steel.

However the steel mill has stopped all production and as a result both coal & iron ore mines.

Any idea where I start looking to get the 3rd train to pick up the current 44 steel and get the whole thing started again as I'm at a loss!
