Tri-Fire AMD Brethren

I've been flashing bios's frequently on mine with no problem tips. I reckon that problem you had is a Nvidia issue only. I flashed my new 290 without even using it first without any of those problems you had.

@ Clovis - In your case (pci-e 3.0) you can get a cheaper board, but don't be put off by the PLX hate works fine here. :)

It's absolutely nothing to do with nvidia, it's to do with how the pex chip (on my board anyhow) manages it's lanes along with having a review sample card along with an unreleased bios. My lanes don't list as 1/2/3/4/5 they list as 2/1/3/4/5. I discovered it's like that so slot '1' leaves room for ln2 pots apparently.

Regardless, still not a fan of plx, the next time tri cards become an option it will be on an enthusiast chipset.

Well it worked fine on mine anyway. Was the same as flashing on any other board. :)

Fine so far. With my cpu @5Ghz and gpu's undervolted a bit at -0.037v and all three cards at stock running crysis 3 max details @1440P with vsync off, peak wattage just over 900W.

Ah good to know, I'm only @ 3.5 atm, haven't even attempted overclocking yet!

Technically you do mate, but i didn't include you cos you own Ten AMD gpu's lol. However i feel bad for saying that, so consider yourself on the list.

I need to do that thread, i will get round to that soon.

Fixed.:D

Something people could think about is when Haswell - E launches there could be some real bargains on old X79 gear. I also think that for gaming Haswell - E could be a bit of a disaster, it all depends how the CPUs overclock or don't. The flagship 5960X is coming in @3.0ghz stock, if it is a poor overclocker it will be a bit like gaming on a Xeon server rather than a high clocking desktop.

you get 2 extra cores though which should even things out

I reckon they will oc fine, esp being high end platform

doesn't matter,all z77 gigabyte oc the same

just enter your own ram speed/timings

cpu might need more/less dvid(offset) that just depends on each cpu

1200W Platinum SuperFlower on deal Matt

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-SF

was £179.99 inc VAT
NOW £149.99 inc VAT

Lol i was just looking at that. That's how much i paid for the 1000W unit. Tempting.

Cheers for the heads up Rossi, but I've decided to hang tight and not make any more pc purchases for a while. It's only a £30 saving and if i need the 1200W or higher later down the line I'll just buy it then.
