Tri-Fire AMD Brethren

I use a H100i on my 3930K @ 4.6GHz. You should be fine :)

Never tried undervolting the CPU, wrong way to go about things i think :p

Heh, well Kaap reckons at 1440P if i use maximum settings i won't really need a large cpu overclock. Good to see that temps won't be too much of a problem then, Eye had me worried for a second.

Yup it's possible chip dependent. I've run both my 3960 & 3930 under volted whilst overclocked.

I run my [email protected] for Trisli, so you should be good to go.

Whoop!

Come on then chiefs, explain to me. Is it worth using the strap thingy, or am i better off just using the turbo and leaving well alone?

Also is it worth trying to get my Sammy greens at 2400Mhz or should i focus on the tried and tested 2133mhz CL9?

129.5 x 34 gets me 4.4Ghz

2072mhz@ CR1 8-10-10-21 :)

Cpu just arrived, cheers Kaap. Blimey it's massive compared to my 2700k lol. I have to say Kaap knows how to package things. It was hard work getting to the cpu through all that packaging. :D

Greens rarely scale up to 2400 - you can try but I wouldn't be worried if it doesn't hit, you should be aiming for 2400 10-12-12 with them start at 2t and tighten from there. In my experience x79 is far more efficient around 2000-2200mhz and tighten - 2133 c9 is a nice place to start.

Yes clock with the straps, gives more flexibility to memory tuning and also opens up the various bus' that run from the base clock. As Neil said you'll find a sweet spot around 129-133.

Sorry matt, didn't mean to worry you. I think the 3960x I have is particularly power hungry when clocked, and with my system having 420 + 280 + 140mm rads on top, bottom and back respectively I can still feel quite a bit of heat pumping out top of case with just cpu under load.

Add three cards on top of that, and it's intense. Psu can just about cope. But if that's all you got on the h110 it will probably be just fine.

The i7 3970X has a hole in the heat spreader in the bottom right hand corner, wtf.

EDIT

Google tells me this is normal. #Madness
