Tri-Fire AMD Brethren

I'm getting a 3970X and a Asus Rampage Extreme today so im hoping that goes well. Be interesting to see if my H110 can handle the temps it will kick out.

It will, I have the same cpu and mb running at 4.5Ghz/1.3V using aircooler, Corsair A70, gaming temps around 68C with room temp of 28C.

The i7 3970X has a hole in the heat spreader in the bottom right hand corner, wtf.

EDIT

Google tells me this is normal. #Madness

It is normal, I had the same impression when I got mine.

Does anyone know what this error code means? I'm unable to get in to windows but have managed to access the bios.

Why do you have all the memory in the left banks?

This.

The error:

My fix for the 0d error code on boot up (RPG Rampage IV Extreme) (BIOS freezes)

Hey everybody,
since I spent a whole day solving this problem and also seeing that many others are experiencing the same, I want to post my solution/workaround to the following problem:
This morning my computer didn't start up. It froze right at the beginning of the boot. My motherboard's LEDS indicated the error 0d (Reserved for future AMI SEC error codes). I run a computer with one SSD (Two Operating Systems) and one HDD (for storage).
I could not boot the computer nor enter the BIOS at ALL.
Unplugging my second SATA HDD (no operating system) before starting the computer helped.
With Hot Plug enabled on all SATA channels (Advanced -> SATA Configuration) , I plugged my HDD back in when the boot manager of my BIOS showed up (Press F8 during boot).
So everytime you boot you would have to repeat that.

The final and better solution for me was to disable the ASM 1061 Storage OPROM in my BIOS.
I did the following steps to do that:
1. I disconnected my second HDD (to be able to enter the BIOS)
2. In the BIOS I selected Advanced menu -> Onboard Devices Configuration -> ASM1061 Storage OPROM = disabled
3. Turned off the computer and reconnected my HDD.

I don't have any clue what this setting really does, but in other forums I read that disabling the complete controller speeded up the booting (Haven't tried it myself though).

Now it works fine for me. Hope that this helps you guys to save some stressful time

Ok I've moved the memory to the slots you said, now i have a 01 error code? Can no longer get into windows or get any display. This is proving to be fun...not.

Yeah, it matters :-)

Check the manual for which to fill first.

Does this look normal?

I'm starting to wonder if the motherboard pins might be the cause. The box did arrive unsealed and a little bit tattered.

One stick of ram in A1, boot ok into windows. Turned pc on and off, again booted ok.

01 is a memory problem (had it myself). Reset the CMOS using the button at the back and press F5 to load the default settings when you power on.

Cheers Greg.

Right, definitely sound with just A1 slot filled, ram running at 1600mhz. I will stick another one in.

Just been looking at the socket of my spare watercooled RIVE mobo, I think your pins are ok but the socket is a slightly different design to the one I have got. This is probably down to mine being quite an old board now.
