Triathletes

Completed London Triathlon this morning, my first triathlon which I really enjoyed. I was in the 8am wave so was lucky to miss the rain as well thank god. Would like to do it again, but I've entered IMUK next year so think I may not!

Swim: 00:26:46
T1:0:06:47
Bike: 01:02:32
T2: 00:02:45
Run: 00:53:09

02:31:57

A little disapointed to not make sub 2.30, T1 needs work and the run also lets me down a little. Really pleased with the bike, as I was flying and felt really good.

Well done!

I was in wave 20, the last and most cursed of the weekend.

Swim was canceled for safety reasons. Bike was cut to 10km for safety reasons and for whatever reason run was cut to 5km?!?

Pretty gutted and now have to send the organisers an email in the morning to see if they are going to offer us anything to make up for it although I'm sceptical. :(

Thanks! ah dear, that's a dissapointment! :( I guess, next year at least it will be back in August, so may be slightly more hospitable.

Only thing that marred my weekend slightly was my wetsuit getting taken from transition. Guess someone may have taken it by accident, but I'm not going to see it again.

So, I can apparently get tickets to a pretty popular local triathlon which normally sells out within 24 hours. It's in April next year.

Could I get fit enough by then to not die? I recently completed a coast to coast bike ride, which in terms of fitness means almost nothing I guess.

How much training time per week would I need to put in?

It's a daunting prospect, but it could be amazing. It's be great to here from some of you guys. :) In the meantime I'll trawl through this thread!

I hope so!:D

I haven't done an organised event like this since cross country running in school, will be nerve racking to say the least! I just need to sort out a training regime now, excellent.:D

So what's everyone's training regime then?

I'm thinking this -

Monday - Running, I'm going to start off fast walking/jogging, 3 miles.

Tuesday - Swimming, I have no technique, so will be getting a lesson to get me in hte right direction.

Thursday - Cycling, this is the easy part. 20 mile sprint run.

Weekend - Erm, not sure what to do here, any ideas? I usually do a long walk anyway, so maybe a bike ride too?

Will that be enough swimming? This is easily my weakest part, so should I do a second swim once a week?

With regards to swimming your cheapest way to get a lesson will be joining your local triathlon club, I went to mine with no swimming knowledge and they showed me correct technique etc for £3!

Thanks for the tip, the only problem is that my local tri club isn't..erm, very local. :( We do some work for the local leisure centre, so with any luck I'll be able to get a bit of a deal..maybe.
