Turkey Grand Prix 2010, Istanbul Park - Race 7/19

but you also have to break and wrestle the car about more, due to turbulence. I would expect fuel to be higher consumption when battling, than driving out in front on your own, just driving smoothly.
They haven't had problems in other races.

Everything I've read is against that theory. Especially when you consider they didn't actually try and pass just sit smoothly following the car in front.

It shows how marginal they are running these cars for weight now when they have so many fuel save modes rather than wringing the cars not expecting to be racing at such a high pace. It's no wonder so few mistakes have been made this year if they are no longer full out full pace racing. There's something wrong if your not go full pelt after 17 laps.

If he admitted that there were code words, he would be admitting that team orders had an effect on the result - something which is banned in F1. If he admitted that, McLaren could be penalised in some way and Button would probably be shifted out at the end of the season (just as Alonso was when he made his thread in 2007).

There is absolutely no way that a member of a team will admit to team orders using code words, or otherwise. It is fair to say though, that team-orders do play a part. This is virtually 100% guaranteed.

Actually watch Jensons video I linked to earlier, there was no wry smile, no pause nothing. Just a quick reply that if it was a code word no one had told him about it.

Maybe Lewis did expect differently or had raced at mclaren under those instructions but you can see from how quickly and bluntly Jenson replies he had never been told differently.

I can't but help feel like the RB team are blaming Webber for not giving Vettel room.... My question to Vettel would be why go for that move when there was not enough room?

Judging from his reaction afterwards and the general douchebaggery nature of the team comments towards webber it looks like vettel was expecting to simply be let through via some sort of team orders.

I'm actually pretty dissapointed in red bull and particulary Horner. In fact I don't know anyone who thinks anything happened that wasn't vettels fault.

Yet Horner not only aired this in public but made it pretty clear the golden boy has to win.

I expected more from Horner and red bull tbh, a more level playing field and fairness. Quite clearly pressure is coming from Vettels camp, I win or I'm taking my ball home.

Red Bull need to remember it's them giving the drivers a winning car and if Vettel doesn't like it he can go elsewhere. He wouldn't have a seat at Macca, would get really annoyed being MS or Alonsos stable mate so red bull hold all the aces.

It's what's going to happen. It is a rubbish system.
No refuelling is fine, but in that case you need to re-allow engine development so they can make more efficient engines for the new style of racing. Although they haven't had a problem in other races, so perhaps it was just team orders.

You know how they must use both tyre types, and the hard "go on forever and ever" I think they should make the hards softer, so that they will last say 30 laps and then start to fade rapidly. This will introduce more pit stops and strategy, as that is the only way passing seems to happen now days.

Coverage of the Turkish Grand Prix, presented by Jake Humphrey. Felipe Massa has won three of the five races held at the Istanbul Park circuit, but he has struggled to find his best form since returning from a head injury. A fourth win would certainly ease the pressure on the Brazilian, whose place at Ferrari could be under threat. Jenson Button won last year's race after an early error from pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel, and the world champion could again be the man to beat. However, fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton, who has yet to win in Turkey, will not want to be left in the shade by his McLaren team-mate.

Good to see that team politics are well and truly alive. If we get an intra team battle between Webber and Vettel then I am all for Webber winning this championship, although I'd still rather have team GB win.

A silly manoeuvre by Horner. It's easy to maintain politics when the incident is a grey area, but this clearly isnt. Anyone watching the replays can see what Vettel did. For some reason he believes as soon as you get in front you have control over the guy next to you.

Red Bull have only damaged their appearance as a result, and considering brand management for Red Bull is right at the top of corporate priority.. this isn't going to please the bigwigs.

Have we had any views from CS? I wouldn't blame him for not posting his thoughts.. or even running the team mantra. We all can see what's really going on there.

I thought the incident was 100% Vettels fault, completely. He might of had the speed to eventually run him down but Webber was in the right to hold his line. For Vettel to turn in on Webber like he did and take them both out was silly he didn't lose control of the car like he mentioned in the interview afterwards, instead he was trying to scare Webber to backing off before the corner. Resulting in taking them both out.

Saying that though we all know Webber is just as aggressive, so lets not make out that he'd of not done something just as silly... because he has in the past.

Overall I thought it was a boring race, I did enjoy the Hamiltion / Button fight near the end. Not really a fan of the Turkish race though, looking forward to Canadian GP.

yep as webber says they were no where near the braking point. Vettle was just being stupid and throwing his toys out the pram. he had enough distance to pull ahead then move across. or try and take the corner wrong. he certainly should not of pulled over.

He did have the perk of having a brand new set of tyres with only a few laps of fuel left on board when he set that time following his puncture.

Exactly, it's like blaming JV for being in the way when MS turned in at Jerez :D

Imagine CS has been too busy knocking up a vettel voodoo doll as more of his win/points bonus evaporated.

I'm drinking Emerge or Kick until Horner apologises ;)

I was so glad Mark could continue and only the german ***** was out, he isn't an F1 driver for long and I already hate him more than Schumi, well done Seb, you ******* twit.

Go Mark, I hope you win the championship, give Vettel and Horner the finger on the podium and retire

actually no, button qual'd in 8th place, if he had finished in that position which is highly likely due to the nature of monaco and the fact no one else managed a overtake (asides from msc on alonso but thats whole other kettle of fish) then he would still be behind webber.

outrate pace (during pitstops) would have got him just behind Hamilton, he would certainly have been ahead of Alonso, who started well behind him

If anything Webber has come out best in this situation.

The Red Bull is the best car out there and so the greatest threat is the other Red Bull, whom in Turkey DNF.

For this individual race yes - for the rest of the season , well thats to be decided but it looks like MW has massively lost support from the team. I hope it calms down and comes back into his favour, but somehow I think thats unlikely (unfortunately)

No disrespect to CS - but I would expect the team to keep a VERY tight ship in this respect, (although that in itself could lead to a no-win situation for the whole team), and so I doubt CS is allowed to say anything at all . I really hope he is allowed to though

I really hope CH publicly apollogises to Mark (or admits to being at fault during the first post race interview, which amounts to the same thing), but unfortunately I highly doubt that will happen. I think a lot of RB fans have lost respect for the team over this
