Turkey Grand Prix 2010, Istanbul Park - Race 7/19

There's no doubt about it this whole unfortunate incident has been handled badly by Red Bull. Christian Horner should have given Vettel a severe reprimand for his recklessness instead of handshakes and hugs on the pit wall. The unfairness is fairly sickening and I really feel for Mark Webber who let's not forget is leading the championship.

This is the way I saw it.

Vettel was faster than Webber but not fast enough to make a full overtake before the next corner. He turned right too soon and caused the accident. Webber is in the clear as far as I'm concerned. Horner needs to take a step back and look at the facts.

Spot on and the way i see it too.

ditto, as much as the incident reflects badly on vettel and especially on how much of a prat he was behaving afterwards red bull have been hit harder by the team trying to blame webber for their own attempts at underhanded race rigging.

After hearing what Horner came out with I'm just flabbergasted. It was a racing incident, by coming out like this it seems like they want to unsettle Webber.

As much as I'm not a fan of Webber he showed a lot of professionalism in that press conference.

I don't buy into the idea that they are actively favouring Vettel, but they do look like they'd prefer him to be winning the races.

It's 100% they are backing vettel over Webber and they want vettel to win the WC if he can.
All you got to look at is who has the longest contract with RB.

I think all the other F1 drivers knows vettel is about to crack and will put pressure on him in Canada.

Its not exactly as though Vettel doesnt have history of cracking in Turkey (last year's first lap going wide to allow Button through to win)

On a total side note.. I used to really dislike MS back in the day, But his interviews lately have me warming to him. It's as if he has the "been here done this" attitude and just stands back and enjoys the race. (apart from the fact it's silly difficult to over take)

well in the first race the cars wouldn't dare get closer then a 2s gap but in turkey we saw them much closer, hamilton spent the bulk of the race within .7 of webber and although he couldn't get past (mainly due to the differential around turn 8) it showed that so far perhaps the drivers have just been too cautious.

Have most of your forgotten about Webbers kamikaze overtaking antics? He more often than not ends up taking out the opponent he is attempting to pass.

In this case however Id say the blame rests on both their shoulders, Vettel was ahead, Webber should have given way, however Vettel shouldnt have turned right so suddenly.

That's way I see it, Vettel was a good half a length or more in front, so Webber would perhaps have done well to give him some room and let him by, he was clearly faster (certainly at that point, he had a considerable speed advantage to get that far up on Webber) but at the same time, Vettel really had no need to move as he did.

So Vettel shouldn't have moved over but Webber shouldn't really have been so tight that such a move caused a big collision either.

He was marginally ahead, not even 3/4 of a car. Webber had the racing line which any driver will tell you they are entitled to stick to, there was still room infront for vettel to drive down or slow down since he never got fully by, there was no need to turn into webber. Silly racing.

Seb the pleb has done this before. He clearly turned into Webber & he would do it again only in future the Team won't let Webber compete so he won't have to.
Summit dodgey is going on in that team concerning the Pleb.

Yep I agree, both as stupid as each other, webber should have yielded, vettel shouldnt have veered right.

I agree with Tiff in that sense. But, 7 races in, trying to assert dominance within the team, 2 wins back to back.. I know what I would be doing and that's racing.. team mate or not.. still Vettel's fault.

I don't think we've forgotton that.

If you put two drivers in the fastest car on the grid and who've both proven themselves to be pretty inept at overtaking cleanly... Sunday is what happens as a result.
