TV Licence Super Thread

To me, the BBC is a service paid for by the public, so I'd expect value for money. Quite honestly I don't think anyone is worth a £1m+ salary no matter who they are, and especially when you get actually important people like the Prime Minister who only earns around £160k in his official role.

No such thing as value for money when it comes to public funding. It's all about fleecing the British public for as much as they can possibly get away with. We all know the salary an MP is just pathetic right? officially it may only be 80k or whatever, but unofficially as they can claim expenses for literally everything its way way more. That 80k is more likely to be their "pocket money" as everything else is covered for with expense claims.

special customer if you get a letter a month - that and junk mail can be later burned as winter fuel.

Disney+ trying to entice me away from BBC, and increasing netflix&amazon subs with their freeview adverts for 'She Hulk' ...
maybe disney has more programmes for people who want to escape the reality of the economy.

One V for those paranoid about the license fee enforcers - people were worried before most of us were born (on tv last night , not very pc)
meanwhile I see we have multiple helping of Strictly and BBC remaking silence of the lambs ... they used to make good drama

Till Death Us Do Part S05E01 TV Licence

The BBC used to make a lot of good stuff but these days they are trying to appeal to the 2% of the population that are aged between 15 and 24 with a narcissistic disposition, with no opinions of their own. who don't watch the telly anyway.

More of the range of late 20s to mid30s, the content developed are primarily from millennials. This is coming from a border line millennial-zoomer (GenY-GenZ) person

But you're pretty much there, younger audience are more fixated on Youtube, Tiktok and other internet-based social mediums; that's where their news and entertainment are sourced from for sure.

Another month another new type of hollow threat with yet another promise of a visit from a salesman. They must be running out of red ink as well.

They say they are giving me until the 12th October to get correctly "Licensed" (must be in the USA now) when I do not need a Licence as I do not watch anything that requires one.

Have you filled out the form on the website to say you don't need one? I've done this and never had any letters chasing me about it.

People on here won't do it. This thread is full of people refusing to fill in the 30 seconds online form.
That's a bit silly then. I've not had a TV license for about 6 years now. Never been chased once. I think I've had to redo the form twice in that time and that's it. Never had a single letter bothering me about it.

I did the same and not once had a letter. I've had an agent around checking before though when I had an argument with someone saying that I didn't need a TV licence cos all I watch is stuff that didn't require one.

In your face! I know the person who reported me and I laughed so hard at them when I let the agent in and they said I didn't need one.

Why do we have to fill in our details to tell them we don't need a licence? You don't write to the DVLA or passport office to let the, know you don't need their services!

I wouldn't be averse to filling out a form to stop any hassle. But there is no way I would let a random stranger in my house to check anything. They aren't in some position of authority.

They wern't a random stranger. They showed a card with identification when they come. This was years ago though and there's no chance they would have tried anything on.

I wasn't alone but they were but anyway it doesn't matter it was years ago.

Had letters for a year and a half. 2 full Loops.
Not had one in last 12 months.

Never filled in the thing saying I don't need one.

No, why should I? I have fishing rods with no rod licence yet I do not need to tell the Environmental Agency I am not using them and they do not want to come and look to see I am telling the truth.

Because that gives them the information required to not hassle you about it? If you're not willing to fill out the form then don't complain when you get bombarded with letters

Perhaps they won't do it as the thread is full of people who have filled out the form and it either did not work or made the situation worse. Letting them in your house is the worst thing you can do and filling out the form is just as likely to increase hassle then stop it.
