They wern't a random stranger. They showed a card with identification when they come. This was years ago though and there's no chance they would have tried anything on.

I wasn't alone but they were but anyway it doesn't matter it was years ago.
Well there were a random stranger and just a sales person. They have no right to enter your property.

filling in the form tells them who you are, so they can take action against u if they choose to.
if you never speak to them you don't have that problem.
it's a situation of their making, they hassle people who aren't customers.

Doesn't that go against the other argument mentioned here a lot, that they have no power? So what action can they take against you?

Either way, we fill in the form and never hear a peep.

They'll take you to court if they know who you are and think they have a case. They don't have power to force you to give either, whether you're guilty or not, there's no need to help them. A lot of ppl have an objection to their behaviour, so it's not really about tv licenses but how tv licensing treats people.

but he was given the right to enter. It's no difference to letting the Gas man in. Complete stranger, ID card and there to do a job. If a Roofer came knocking and said are you looking to get new facias or a roof done, you might think, you know what, yeah I do actually. You invite him in and chat about the job that needs doing. I had a visit at my old address years ago. I also filled in the form online, I did tell the man that but for some reason it didn't crop up. I wasn't bothered either way. He asked if he could come in to check and I said yeah, come in. Kids in bed so no issue there, he declined to come in saying its fine. Didn't hear anything after.

and rightly so they should take you to court if they know you don't have a licence and you do need one.

I don't care. Nothing to hide so they can check I didn't need a TV licence. Everything was fine.
Well, that's a silly and risky attitude to have given what was happened to other people. You might be happy to let a random salesman on commission to look around your home, but normal people are not and lots of people have let them come in only for it backfire even though they have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide. Let me guess you would be happy to let Microsoft inspect your home to make sure you don't need a license as well as Google and Apple to send inspectors? Why would you let any sale person on commission look around your home? Those "inspector" are just gloried salesmen on commission, and they have a history of lying and bulling to earn extra commission.

What do you mean nope, this thread is full of examples that prove me right.

People on here won't do it. This thread is full of people refusing to fill in the 30 seconds online form.

If you don't watch Netflix do Netflix write to you complaining you don't have subscription so pay up or they will send someone round?

Honestly it boggles the mind how 'because its the BBC' people have this behaviour normalised in their heads, look at the wording in that letter, its designed to frighten vulnerable people in to paying up.

at the end of the day more and more people don't require one but just go through the motion. Either tell them you don't need one or let them check that you don't need one. It's as simple as that.
It really is not. There is so much evidence to show otherwise. Clearly you have not been following and reading the thread.

No it's not at all. If you don't need a licence you tell them you don't need one. Jesus christ.

I'm not bothered what the thread says. All you do is fill in the form and submit complaint if anything is wrong.

I asked before has anyone on here every ever challenged them or put a formal complaint in for been harrased. e.t.c and not a single person said they did so people are just winging for the sake of it.

There's plenty people who haven't had the issue. The ones that have do nothing about it apart from winge on.

This isn't netflix it's a TV licence. They tell you what you need to be doing if you don't need one. What's ******* hard about that?

Honestly some of you ffs. It's law! I bet theres people in here avoiding them so they don't have to pay but blatently they DO NEED one and avoiding them so they have nothing to do with them.

Thats the point you don't have to tell any other company in the world that you don't need a licence and you don't have to keep telling them that over and over again. Why do you accept from that from the BBC? It's not normal. How would you act if other companies did the same? You think its ok to tell 50+ or 100+ company that you don't need a licence have to keep checking in with them to say you don't need a licence.

You do if they need to check you don't need one due to it been law. Netflix and the rest isn't law but BBC tv licence is.

They are writing to you because you don't have one, the assumption on their part is you're using their service without a subscription and they want you to prove you're not.

That is not how the civilised world works, you don't accuse people of something and then require them to prove their innocents.

They should be completely ignored.

That is not true. The ones that have problems are not just winging and they have challenged and put in formal complaints. It looks like you're lying about saying not one single person has and people are just winging for the sake of it. its also not true that it's a simple as "All you do is fill in the form and submit complaint if anything is wrong." often its far more complicated then that.
