TV Licence Super Thread

They are writing to you because you don't have one, the assumption on their part is you're using their service without a subscription and they want you to prove you're not.

That is not how the civilised world works, you don't accuse people of something and then require them to prove their innocents.

They should be completely ignored.

So prove that you are not using their service then. Takes all of 30 seconds to fill the form in or let someone in to check.

Nothing hard about that is there?

You fix it by ignoring them, my letters from them go in the bin before i even open them. I treat it like Junk mail, that's what it is.

You don't ignore them. This is why letters are sent saying they will get someone to check on the property to make sure they are not illegally watching broadcasts that bbc think you need a tv licence for.

You fix the problem by telling them you don't need one at the moment because you don't watch services that require one.

Ignoring them will only cause more problems. If they think you are watching something and they can prove it then they will take you to court and will fine you.

Keep those curtains closed. ;)

Why should I need to prove I'm not using their service? No other company in the world makes you prove you don't use or require their services.

Using the law card is daft, it's outdated and no longer relevant in the modern world.

Because it's law and until they change it then that's not for us to decide.

Until then just fill the ******* form in and tell them you don't need one. 30 seconds.

I could have filled it in for every single person in here in the amount of time you lot have created a post debating that you shouldn't have to do it.

I think the people againts it in here are the ones who need a licence and watch shows on bbc, trying to avoid the situation by complainging on here.

Barking it's the law constantly isn't going to get people to pay it. Honestly it's just ridiculous that people get swallowed up in the BBC propaganda and blindly pay it without thinking they might not need one.

Look at the wording you're using "Illegally watching the BBC" Is that supposed to intimidate me?

Ignoring it doesn't cause any problems, it just costs them money to keep sending those letters and i'm good with that, they don't bother me they go straight from my mailbox to the bin.

If they send someone round they will be turned away at my door, again at their cost. it takes me 3 seconds to say "not interested" and close the door.

If everyone did that it would come to an end very quickly.

A lot of "sticking it to the man" types in here.
Although i do find it odd, and funny, that people are supposedly ignoring these letters but still find the need to fill a thread with pictures of them holding it - absolutely bizarre behaviour.
