People pay for the Licence?

Not paid the licence for a very long time, i used to fill in the "I dont need a licence" online form. did that twice, ever since i just can't be bothered to fill the damn thing up.

Recieved many letters from tv licensing, but it all ends up in the bin. I did however receieve a new RED letter notice from them recently.. Change of tactic?
I don't need to prove anything to them. Long may it continue.

That's true but then you get harassed constantly with threatening letters which is unacceptable.
Not had a visit from licensing goons. Even if you did, just close the door on them, or even better don't even bother opening the door. You do not need to say a word to them.

Rather than you having to prove to the BBC that you're not using their services the BBC's services should be inaccessible unless you pay for it, like everyone else.
And how would that work? Will the BBC be buying everyone a new TV with the required technology inside to allow people to verify they have a BBC licence?

It would work in the same way Netflix works, people got used to using a digital TV box when they switched the analogue signal off, they can get used to opening a BBC TV app.

How about those people that don't have an internet connected smart TV, like my Mother and the vast majority of her elderly friends, for example? They wouldn't know where to start when it comes to streaming and apps and the like. Then there's the fact that the BBC streaming quality via the iPlayer app is a ******* low bitrate, low resolution joke.

You're not wrong but it amounts to the same thing, failing to give them your time when they target you lands you at the magistrates courts, from then on it becomes a criminal matter with the magistrates.

If you don't pay for Netflix you don't get Netflix, at no point to you end up infront of the magistrates.

I'm sorry but the only way you end up in front of a Magistrate is if you ARE watching live TV and NOT paying for a licence (and rightly so, your breaking the law) but as long as your not watching what they define as "live" tv there sod all they can do.

There is a legal video in this thread somewhere, all you have to do is ignore them, that could do it.

20 years ago people didn't have a digital TV, there was an initiative to provide an inexpensive alternative, Digital TV Boxes that you plug in to your analogue TV, they started from as little as £9.99 and all the manufactures got involved, you went in to a Curry's store you couldn't see for these things.

No reason why they couldn't do it again, to turn your old TV in to a smart TV, such things already exist.

Lol, when did you dream up that nonsense?
You have zero legal obligation to speak to the goons, they're just door to door salesmen with zero authority

Why don’t the bbc just get rid of Gary Lineker and save themselves and us a small fortunate ? I have never understood why he’s paid so much for such little work, absolutely scandalous.

What about other BBC services? Because the BBC is bigger than just TV (which the majority in here seem to forget).
