Only use it to see what stephen fry's up to really as he seems to be obsessed with it and even updates it whilst in deepest darkest east asia looking for wildlife

I presume you're a normal person, so you've gained knowledge of Trent's latest antics.
If you've not got a ton of fans following you, then you can just use it as public, less synchronous IM with people you know.
Heh I bet Twitter are paying him to do thatTony Hawks keeps giving away stuff on Twitter. Quite cool, he posts where he's left something. Normally a skateboard/skate gear and then posts once somebody has "Tweeted" that they got it.

what monetary gain would they get out of it? they don't need the PR, that's selling itself with all the hype and exposure.Heh I bet Twitter are paying him to do that
There's always a need for more "Hype and Exposure".what monetary gain would they get out of it? they don't need the PR, that's selling itself with all the hype and exposure.
I've had a twitter account since the start of the year, have some really interesting followers. I basically use it akin to a customised RSS feed - I get my news, banter and chat all in one place. Although I admittedly seem to post drivel.
So you can receive updates from the people you're interested in without having to visit the twitter website manually. Why would I register though?
I completely agree, but Coke and Pepsi have a monetised product, and a fully fledged business model. Twitter is a venture capital service that is ad-free and seemingly revenue-free. It seems to be lacking an all important set of positive numbers in it's accounts. There's always a need for more "Hype and Exposure".
Just because Coke and Pepsi sell well doesn't mean they need to stop advertising their items.
Oh god no, it took people years to convince me to use Facebook, which I still hate...
A lightweight way to communicate with as many people that want to listen to you?I don't see the point in Twitter AT ALL.
I'm playing devil's advocate here; Twitter is both like status updates on Facebook and a blogging service for people with brain disorders.I don't see the point in Twitter AT ALL.
Same here.
I guess Facebook is good for sharing photos with friends and things like that, but I don't see the point in Twitter AT ALL.
No.
I hate online social website thingys.
I love how people who have next to no social life come out with this. Sure, its slightly annoying in some respects, and the kids that sit on the sites 24/7 uploading photos of themselves are also retarded.
But christ, get over yourself. Its a good, handy, way of getting in touch with people. Especially people who you may of moved away from etc. Its as retarded as refusing to use a phone, or letters - Just even more so, becaus its free.
