Twitter

I'm confused about the people who are so against twitter and here is why.

On twitter, you share useful information with people who are following you because they're interested in at least some of the same things you are. You also read useful information posted by people you're following because you're interested in at least some of the same things that they are.

Does nobody see any similarity to forums there? Sure, we don't have followers here but you read threads because you're interested in the topic. We're all here because of one main interest as well.

I did use it for a while, but China's deemed it too sensitive to access at the moment, and I can't use my VPN to the UK from the internet cafe I'm using at the moment. Along with MSN, hotmail, youtube, anything vaguely interesting I might want to do online :p

I have no real issue with Twitter, but don't use it as obsessively as some people seem to. I can see it's purpose, but I don't have a massive need for it in my life right now.

There's a new thing going around to get more followers.

It works like this:

You put your name down and automatically follow 8 people who had previously done the same thing.

Then your name becomes one of the 8 so another few people then add you and so on.

Just like advertising your own page I guess so worth a try.

Why would you want to follow random people?

Agrees ...

People find you or you find people that interest you.

I've been on twitter since the early days before all the riff raff joined and tbh I don't give a toss about follower counts, it means nothing.

I follow around 300 people with 350 following me and tbh that's my lot not interested in anymore.

I don't use any of the social network style sites at all but my other half does, twitters a bit when watching TV, now has MSN chats with a few "celebs" who thought she was funny.

It's all a bit odd to me though but it seems these "celebs" are quite bored when not in the public eye!
