The second or third map is the University where you will be introduced to training staff ie the training room.

I've been one starring and moving. Gu
Smogsy is probably the easiest map so far. Including the main building, I've unlocked just 2 surrounding ones and am upto 2mill already and very close to 3 stars.

At this stage you will without a doubt have to stop using Gen. Diagnosis rooms and moved over to the Fluid Analysis (upgraded).

Keep training up RAW new staff and ensure their characteristics are sound before hiring them as their starting wages are lower and easily controlled as they get promoted over time.

Lastly, in the early stages of a map build a Research lab in a LARGE room. Over time keep adding servers to it to increase research speed, whilst training your researchers. The $1k research project that gives you $20k completes so fast that you'll be rolling in it.

Wait? So I don't need each type of diagnosis room? Could I just have a GP, Ward and Psych?

So I'm normally pretty good with this stuff... but I'm a good few levels in (started Melt Down the other night I think it was) and can't see servers as an item for the research lab? Have I missed something in unlocking them or am I not at that stage yet? :)

Not from what I've seen no. There is the basic diagnosis room and then ever better versions of them. I've just finished Smogsly and my diagnosis room to start with was Fluid Analysis. Towards endgame I moved 2 Mega X-Rays now and most of my patients eventually shifted to that instead.

This is my Smogsly

I only just started Melt Down...I do know that Smogsly didn't have the Pharmacy in it so I guess different maps all have various rooms/features you cannot use. Research without my $20k tip mentioned in my earlier post is gonna suck :o

I just got to the third map and unlocked the training room. One thing to be aware of is if you train up quite a few at once is you'll need some cover for them - things got a bit backed up when I trained 4 doctors at once  Also the external trainer is quicker than using someone internal to train, which can help with this. Does cost a bit more though.

Heads up for those who don't know.

Research labs throughout the maps/hospitals are all interlinked. So if you find yourself without the funds to build or even start research on a new map, simply visit your prior hospitals that have the fastest research facilities and research what you need there before returning to your current hospital.

For example: Just started Meltdown and I need to research a Shock lab and a DNA lab. I simply went to the OTT research labs I'd built in Flemington and Smogsly and researched both there before returning to Meltdown and having immediate access to build both rooms.

Blimey! Meltdown is a bit hard isn't it?! Been playing for 2hrs with one star and I can barely remain above 100k without taking in losses! Expanding is very difficult due to the lack of funds and constant environmental issues!

I'm on Meltdown too, just passed 2 stars and on my way to 3... the environmental stuff is annoying but so long as you train and task your janitors okay it becomes manageable (I have 2 or 3 janitors with Maintenance I-IV plus either stamina or motivation, assigned purely to repair machines, and another 2 or 3 who just have stamina, motivation and ghost-capture exclusively sweeping floors - then the others are tending to everything else)

Biggest issue for me on meltdown is the layout, really difficult to fit rooms in nicely. After a bit of messing about I've ended up with something I'm happy with where I have some rooms L-shaped to include their own internal 1-tile wide corridor to the hallway, allowing me to double up on rooms without restricting the main hallway too much

Agree about the Meltdown layout. It is a major headache for the larger 4x4 rooms so I unlocked one of the larger adjacent buildings to let me fit a Fracture Ward into and that 'animal catching' room. Money is my biggest issue as I am always fighting debts and most of the time I am at around 100-140k.

How many levels did you do? The first ones are basically tutorials.
basically my point. i did 4? far to long. their super easy. but far to many of them. just give me sandbox mode so i can work it out myself the tutorial career mode sucks.
far to long for what is needed Create a doctor room, Create X room, Create a X room. OK i get it! by the first time i did it...

Did you not enjoy coming across the new illnesses? Zooming in to see what's with people? I've not exactly been powering through (not hanging around either), but I'm enjoying the game for what it is. Still, each to their own.

i loved the original & pretty much any Management game.

but this career mode is basically overcooked meets theme hospital meets any mobile game.

to much hand holding
silly star career crap
switching between hospitals.
just let me make my own god dam it & learn as we go.

Damn man, was that a steam refund? before you turn away from the game you need to give me some tips, I dont think I did the first hospital in 2 hours let alone the first 4 !

45 minutes you did 4 hospitals...

Fair enough it's not for you, but your memory of theme hospital must be massively off. This is exactly how theme hospital was. You start the first one which teaches you a few basics. Complete that then move onto next, which teaches you a few more this.rinse and repeat. That's it. This is that game but with more.

I agree sandbox is required, but I do see why one wouldn't be there until perhaps the first 5 hospitals have been completed.

I imagine they will add in sandbox mode later in future
