Type R and VTEC owners

It's 100% the caliper making a noise but it does seem to breaking normally. I'll get the code read soon and report back.

Huge shout out to Honda Crewe for ensuring my oil filter was firmly jammed in place. Guessing they didn't oil the seal before installing it either as it was well and truly on there.

Strap wrench didn't work, chain wrench didn't work so ended up removing my airbox to get more access to the filter, putting a huge C-Clamp around the filter and attaching a bar to the end of the clamp to get it to budge.

glad I did that before resorting to the screwdriver method.

my thirty minute oil change turned into a 2 hour series of facepalm moments.

Jeez, these are the Muppets dealing with my Type R that is still delayed.
I had a loaner Civic last week that was swapped out because they "SOLD" it whilst I was driving it for 1.5 weeks. Now in another loaner and still have my fingers crossed that my Type R is delivered on the 28th ready for me to pick up on the 1st.

Their customer service is appalling also, never return calls, never do what they promise and avoid you when things get messy.

I've heard that before which is why I have always just used strap wrenches.

probably should grab one for next time though. I'm not doing the C-Clamp shuffle again in a hurry.

EDIT* just clicked on the tegiwa link. I can get it from there from just 13p a month too.

dead reasonable.

This type has never failed me (assuming you have the access):

Even helped me remove a water filter housing for my well at the weekend.

Those claw ones and other similar ones like chains are horrible to use, they leave blisters when you try to undo an overtightened filter in an awkward place. Even more worse to use when the filter is at the back end of the engine like many old Honda's and you have to crawl all the way underneath and then wrestle amongst the huge pipe that runs across!

The lesson here is to always tourque the filter correctly and use a dedicated socket. :)

Blisters on what?

I've used the claw type on a B18 before because it was the only thing that would fit - I couldn't get a chain around it. It works fine if you don't have girly arms ;)

That's great - but what if you weren't the last person to change the filter?
