Type R and VTEC owners

^That's gutting, to have a sour experience before you even get the car :/

Yup gutting.

My 1st brand new "new" car that I am personally buying and an appalling experience before I have even got it.

£2000 deposit 6 months ago to be on the list for the new Type R (April I think) and told them I wanted to walk in, swap out my lease with them and drive out in the Type R. What a mistake to even think they would do that or have the brain power to comprehend it.

Ended up now for 6 weeks in various loaners (one of which was sold whilst I had it can you believe) less spec than the lease I have had and of course the cost of the termination to boot that is now nearly 2 months past.

3 companies to deal with, Holdcroft Honda Crewe, Lex Lease and Honda UK. None of which talk to each other and I am left in limbo in the middle.

AVOID Crewe Honda with your life.

familiar with this. They are usually ok from a servicing point of view, their mechanics knew their stuff when I spoke to them on my last service. I wouldn't buy a car off them though. The sales staff don't know a jazz from a civic.

If I eventually get the car, I might pop down the OCUK shop with it to "test" it out.

Honda customer service is next to nothing. I wouldn't buy one ever again after the experience I had with the civic. They just fob you off.

That's the problem with franchise dealers, there are some really p*** poor dealers out there.

Lexus have the best dealership model out there, if only everyone was like them...

Importing a motor over from Japan, does anyone have experience with this? I really want an EK9 and a friend has told me I'd save about grand if I import myself

They're not wrong, but there can be quite a bit of hassle involved. There's several resources on the net that will tell you pretty much what you need to do to make it easier. But for the sake of a few hundred pounds, you could let a private importer sort it all out for you. :)

It's extremely simple to bring something over 10 years old in, a muppet could do it. Use a trustworthy exporter and have it shipped 'FOB', use Kleerfreight to deal with the freight/taxes/customs stuff, grab an import pack from DVLA.
EK9 are extremely poor value though, even worse than AE86.

Thanks for that, what kind of jap motors would you say provide good value to import? My budget is around 5k - 10k

Some quick pics taken this evening, I would have loved to find a nice spot somewhere but I'm fast running out of time to get sorted for JAE. Gives you an idea, the car is super shiny and the paint is the smoothest I've felt. Plus it smells great.

Washed, clayed, machine polished, waxed/sealed.
