Type R and VTEC owners

How much to paint the calipers? Sure Tegiwa quoted me £1400 or so.

probably. just going off their website price.

They're Brembo.

yeah, I cant imagine painting the calipers would cost more than 100 even for a pro job. you could probably get a brembo decal applied in that cost too.

painting calipers isn't hard anyway.

This mod isn't for me, as I have used my car on track and my brakes are massive overkill for my requirements anyway, I just think its pretty cool.

especially considering you can get a full brembo caliper brake kit for less than the price of spoon calipers.

Thoughts on this?

He doesn't mention the caliper piston size and how it affects bias. The pads miss a lot of the disk too.

Aston Martin logo on a Honda - no thanks.

Just looks like a bling exercise without understanding the effect on the brakes (will probably make braking worse)

In fairness, my brake setup:

- Dixcel SD Discs @ 360
- Ferodo DS2500 @ 200
- Hel Lines @ 80
- 4 new/refurbished calipers @ 500

cost more than that, I can see it probably outperforming the aston setup by some margin too as it is just a beefed up version of what the car was designed to use.
My setup was solid on track and has never come close to being tested on the road.

Just thought it was interesting to see someone doing something different as you dont see many people doing big caliper/brembo conversions on the S2000 as there isnt much that fits without messing up sizing/bias from my, admittedly limited understanding.

its early days, the guy could be on to something, I guess time will tell.

No one bothers as they don't need them.

I had 4 pot Wilwoods with custom bells and brackets on my Rover turbo years ago, would have been easy to do on the S2000 but I genuinely don't think the car needs any better brakes.

It is different but the pad doesn't even sweep the disk properly and he must have found cheap calipers, why else would you get aston martin on a Honda ?

Blisters on what?

I've used the claw type on a B18 before because it was the only thing that would fit - I couldn't get a chain around it. It works fine if you don't have girly arms ;)

That's great - but what if you weren't the last person to change the filter?

I got blisters on my palms taking off a filter as it was so tight and it was impossible to grip properly because of location and positioning under the car. Holding the handle in tight and all it did half the time was the claws just embedded and kept rounding the metal can.

and was just making the point that people should torque things properly, this usually gets dismissed by naysayers who say its unnecessary and follow cowboy mechanic procedures.

They're not bad but they're nothing special? They give Bling for minimal manufacturer cost. Nissin are mint, I have three of them on my car

There is a detailed buyers guide on Civinfo but the rusty roof issue is the main one, its the main reason I wanted one with a pan roof

The 1.8 is pretty bullet proof, its a great engine too I thought it would lack power from what I am used to but I don't notice it at all and its very good on fuel. The usual service history checks apply, make sure the clutch doesn't squeak, it will drive you bonkers I've just had the master cylinder changed on mine under warranty and its a 2010 on 52K, completely squeak free now but for how long I don't know

These are from the detailer, I haven't seen the car in the flesh since dropping it off on Sunday afternoon. The machine polish has been done, now wax and interior.

Will get the hard top done later on this year and have him give the car a pre winter top up etc at the time.

Place your bets on whether my Type R will actually be delivered to Crewe Honda today.

This is the 4th date I have been given in 6 weeks now after the wrong car was built (none GT version) and I have heard every excuse under the sun. Even Honda UK customer relations has stopped responding to me. I have been passed through every sales / manager person at Crewe Honda during the time with zero help or zero returned calls as promised.

I am not even sure I want the darn car now after all this agro and false promises. But I am locked in as I early terminated my Honda lease on the day the car was originally delivered when they found out it was the wrong one. Since then I have been in loaners from the stealership waiting on ever changing dates. They can't even be bothered to call me on the day to say whether the car was or was not delivered on all 3 occasions.

So will I receive a call today after many promises (like the other times) that my car has arrived or not. Of course I will not. I will have to call them around 4pm to find out one way or the other.

Buying a premium product and expect to be treated nicely or even as a customer with 32k in his hand to hand over. Nah this is JUST a HONDA, **** him.

AVOID Crewe Honda with your life.
