Type R and VTEC owners

It's still in its box waiting to be fitted. I may do it this evening to be honest. I've also got the JDM mats to go on and Spoon engine/gearbox mount kit when I get it into a garage.

Looks good, although I think silver wheels would stand out better.

Have you fitted braces to it yet? Probably more useful than the spoon brakes and engine mounts (hope they don't vibrate too much)

Strut braces? Or under body braces? I'm getting some Eibach ARBs fitted soon. Spoon engine mounts because the manifold is touching the steering column during hard left turns, hopefully the stiffer mounts fix it. They're not solid like other kits so should be fine, we shall see.

Do I have to cut anything to fit them? Seem to remember seeing something.

from what I can remember I had to cut a slit into the carpet. just used a box cutter and followed the instructions. its very unobtrusive and honestly no buyers would notice if you came to sell the car on as you just fold the flap back into place.

5 minute job to fit.

made such a difference to the garbage S2K tuning mats i got when i got the car. They slid around all over the shop and looked crap after twenty minutes.

Will have a look this evening or in the morning. Mine's got the normal S2000 mats in so I've been in no rush. But thinking about it, the new ones cost me £160 I think and they've been in the box since they were delivered so maybe it's about time to get them in the car!

I've had a red carpet in my shed for about a year now and done nothing with it. Finding the motivation to take my interior apart is tough.

Fitting mats is a walk in the park in comparison :p

Hmm shed. I need a shed, big enough to fit my hardtop, wheels and the rest of the crap I have in my garage, so that I can actually fit the S2000 in there. :D

Braces like the underbody X brace for front and rear - makes a huge difference

Top strut brace is less effective but brightens things up.

Master cylinder brace is also recommended

Once I get the manifold sorted and I've done a few track days I'll see how it goes then. There's no decent master cylinder brace for the facelift.

Fitted the mats, pics following. Amber performance sent me the wrong intake hose however. Again.

I've had some mats in a box for ages and I decided to fit them today as well as the Samco hose. Remember this is the repalement to the first that Amber Performance sent me as they falsely advertised it. Well I ordered the correct one, and they've sent me the wrong one again, pretty fed up with it now so I may just not bother.

Anyway, the mats are in and they're fantastic. Proper high quality items and much better than the ones they replaced. I also took some photos trying to show the caliper clearance. :)

Tent is in the boot, just need to add beer, sleeping stuff and some clothes and I'm ready to go for JAE tomorrow. :D

I saw the new civic type r amongst others testing at millbrook today. That is one offensively quick car and the spoiler is obscene. Pretty much a shut up and take my money effort now i've seen it in a decent context.

Sorry can't post pics.

Have you driven it though? It's missing something that I can't quite describe - no drama about it given the power output.

The interior is also absolutely not representative of a car with a price north of £30k

The Turbo has killed the character, long gone is that screaming and frantic nature with the VTEC. The car is almost sterile and soulless feeling like German cars.

I think Honda have a production or safety issue with the new Type R's

Apparently my built replacement Type R (because they delivered a non GT) has been sat along with all the others for about 4 weeks awaiting final checks at Swindon.
Why it takes so long to "check" a vehicle when it rolls of the production line I have no idea other than something is wrong or faulty.

And to make it worse, they don't know when these checks will be done and so after 6 weeks of the 1st delivery date, they still can't give me a definite delivery date.

I have sent a strong email to the CEO and heads of sheds at Honda EU (UK) and will see what happens.

I wish I never stepped into that Honda garage now :(

It's not just the turbo - though the noise has become quite 'meh'. Just as a package it didn't feel like it knew what it wanted to be, as a result the drive on normal roads suffers a bit.

Don't get me wrong it's clearly a weapon and it pulls very, very strongly, but it's missing a little bit of drama in lots of places
