Type R and VTEC owners

From an observers perspective what we appear to have here is two polar opposites. Clarkey believes he is a gift to driving and car control and cannot understand why anyone on a track day isn't driving like Senna, which obviously he does because he'd be in F1 if only he wasn't too busy with an old Nissan and part time being a drift hero. S2KIP spends literally a million pounds a year on trick track race parts for his modified Honda and then drives it around the track like I would in my automatic diesel :D

This seems bizarre, why would they run a trackday on a track covered in aviation fuel?

Cos you're too busy under a Nissan fixing it?

Nah, reliability seems fairly decent since I put a good engine in it. Drove it to Anglesey, drifted it all day long and drove home without even lifting the bonnet. I was happy with that, normally it blows up quite often :D

I'm far from gods gift, jumping in with the big hitters showed me that I suck and need improvement. You will only improve by running with people better than yourself though, right. I feel motivated to practice more and go back next year with some better skills to show.
As for grip track days I'm kind of bored of the scene now. It's quite fun to drive the car absolutely flat out round a track, and it's extremely fun to do it nose to tail with another car. Unfortunately on public trackdays such opportunities don't really present themselves. I have considered getting a race license and doing test days instead, but in that scenario I think I would be out of my depth.

The etiquette at the HOT/LOT day at Donington was on another level compared to the public day at Combe. I'm friends with one of the organisers, he says anyone driving like a numpty gets banned from future events. Next on the list is Brands Hatch. :)

Because it's under East Midlands airport flight path which means it can be a little slippy when it first rains.

I think it's more to do with the rubber compound down on the surface than the airport. Other race tracks are also much slippier in the wet than your normal road surface gets.

I'm contemplating putting the S2000 in the garage till March/April. Without sounding stupid, is there anything I should do, or just park it up then start it again when that time comes? I plan on SORN'ing it.

Try google and searching winter storage.

Full tank of fuel, battery charger/disconnect and tyres up to 45psu would be all. Maybe an oil change of your really anal

I don't have any power in the garage, disconnecting the battery would disable the alarm wouldn't it, meaning the insurance would be invalid?

Don't put the handbrake on.

Especially because Honda calipers, they are the devil.

I always thought sorning a car would invalid insurance anyway? policy could be suspended for the sorn and put back on when car is on the road? or is it a special company you are using?

I don't know actually, I will check with some insurers. My renewal is on the 20th so it could work out well if I can get cheap SORN insurance for the duration.

So after a little scare with all the heavy rain and the AEM CIA on my DC5 I've decided to get shot of the CAI and get something a bit more practical. Tegiwa carbon ones seem to be well regarded on the forum as do the ARC kits but are pretty rare. I know Tegiwa take a bit of a slating but the carbon intakes seem to hold up well. Also considering changing the exhaust. When I bought the car it came with a DC sports system including a decat header, its pretty loud and i'm not a massive fan of the noise.

Looking like I can get a pretty reasonable deal on a Kakimoto Regu 06&R which seems to fit the bill noise wise. Its already tuned with a K100, I'm assuming such minor changes wont require any sort of additional mapping?
