Type R and VTEC owners

Did it have a 54k service ?

Wouldn't worry too much I bought mine on 90k and its just hit 175k. I haven't ever done clearances and its still in one piece

S2000 ap1 valve clearance check and timing chain/timing chain tensioner check - where to go and what to pay roughly presuming the timing chain doesn't need replacing (fairly certain it won't)? Cars over 100k now and from quickly looking, not sure either has ever been done. Engine pulls well and no unexpected noises cold/warm.

Don't mind travelling a bit as it will be a one off for me - the car will be sold before further checks need doing.

You got two reputable Honda specialists down sort of north westish to Nottingham, VTEC Direct in Winsford and TDi North in Warrington, theres also HM service in Burton.

I've driven from slightly north of Nottingham to TDI North in Warrington for the last couple of years. The servicing had been done by the dealers who looking at the service book had managed somehow not to check the valve clearances. TDI said they where somewhat out when it went there. As well as that the Honda dealers tried to charge me for an EGR valve clean, despite the FN2 not having one.
The 90 min drive there and 2 + hour drive back in godawful November weather has been well worth the pain for the peace of mind knowing someone competent has given it the once over ...

I love the "hatch" S2Ks, but I know nothing about them - was it just an JDM model or did we get it over here? (Assuming it is a completely different model, such is the lack of my knowledge on the subject!)

This is what you need, an S2000 Turbo running a sequential gearbox.

Quaiffe box but also a Motec paddle gearchange using compressed air

Neither the 330i is a "better car" than the CL7 nor is the CL7 better than the 330i, the end game of both is pretty different to each other. One is a car that you have to drive hard to get the most out of, and it is a better enthusiasts car in that matter, the other is a much more civilised car which is also good to drive, but a lot less frantic, IMO a bit more of an old mans style of driving. ;)

You can't drive the 330Ci/330i like an old man, they're refined to a degree, sure, but mostly they are very chuckable and competent "sporty" cars. Even my old SE Saloon didn't feel the way you described it. I understand it's not going to set your pants on fire (I owned a Clio RS 200 at the same time, so can appreciate the difference). But what you're saying doesn't ring true to my experience.

Compare it to the 330Ci Sport coupe and you're even further away from that analysis.

Also the CL7 has 217bhp not 205, and 0-60 time is not 7.1, anyone who knows Honda will know the performance figures are always very conservative, this car will do 60 in the sub 6 sec bracket, the 330i is not a very fast car as you make out to be, know from experience so the CL7 won't have any major issues against it.

The exact same thing has been said about the E46 330 being conservative with performance figures, whether or not I agree I'm not sure, but for the sake of comparisons it's better to quote official times.

One of the great things about the car for me is the manual 'box and the way it feels. Although for a high HP application such as the above then I understand the upgrade.

Not what I wanted before Christmas but I've just coughed up for a new o2 sensor as I'm getting a PO141 error code. (Sensor 2)

How easy is this to swap out as I'll have a go tomorrow?

(EP3 if you can't see sigs)
