Type R and VTEC owners

maybe the EP3 sounds better due to the FN2 having a bit more sound deadening in the cabin?

I didn't test drive the EP3 for that reason I imagine its a much better place to be when nailing it around the B roads which would make me enjoy it more but not so nice on the motorway.

But without driving it its all guess work

The EP3 is much better on a B road due to the rear suspension but pretty much the same on the motorway.

In the back of the FN2 or any Civic of the same shape is an absolute joke, it's solid.

A car dealer friend of mine has a 65 plate black Type R with 900 miles on his forecourt. It's there as a favour to a mate of his. He's offered it to me for £25K. I have the weekend to work out how to raise the funds :)

Mine will have 6, first new car I purchased. Could have got cheaper of course with a few miles but if I was looking at it from a fianncial POV I wouldn't have bought this car anyway

Did this yesterday, ECUTEK so has down-shift blip and adjustable launch control too which is quite fun. It gets used on track so not wasted features at all.

It's eliminated the flatspot I had as a result of fitting the HKS and RSK and absolutely changed the driveability.

VTEC comes in at 3900 if foot is planted, or 5400ish if gradual acceleration.
Rev limiter is now 8600 and sounds mental.

Well worth the money for tuning, absolutely no regrets.

I've noticed these Ecutek maps for the FN2s, how do they compare to the Hondata Flashpro mapping system? Which is best and why?

Flash Pro is ultimately better, it adds data logging, end user tuning (if you need it), dual maps IIRC

An Ecutek map is just that, a remap using Ecutek hardware. It locks the ECU from future read /writes to anyone other than an Ecutek dealer.

By the time you account for the cost of the Ecutek license and the cost of the Flashpro there's probably very little price difference

I'll politely say that you're wrong here, sorry!

It's quite newly supported on the FN2 so here's a quick video.

It worked out £100 cheaper than Flashpro and imo has more abilities than the Flashpro - aside from extended data logging (i.e. afaik Flashpro can't do downshift blipping, adjustable launch control, traction control, etc?)

Full feature list here:

You can change maps by using the cruise control buttons which is very nice - on my Impreza which had an ECUTek map, it was very much a guessing game :p

I stand corrected. FlashPro does have resale value that the EcuTek doesn't though

picked the civic up last wednesday, when I got home realised how utterly filthy the car was so gave it a good clean

foam
wash
rinse
wash again
rinse
iron x
citrus tar/glue remover
full clay
polished with SRP
waxed with collinate 476
then windows treated with gtehniq G5

still a lot of polishing work to be done, fair few swirl marks but want to get any paint issues sorted and then hopefully book in for a professional detail or have a full weekend working on polishing it up

But its looking a darn sight better than it did, and came up a lot better than i thought it would first go over
