Type R and VTEC owners

I know I know. And I know I will regret selling it in a few years. I've owned the S2000 for longer than any other car I've had in my life. It just ticked all the boxes for me and there's nothing that costs less than £50k that can measure up to the thrills per gallon.
The other problem is that I'm finding driving a manual harder as I'm getting older and the feeling in my legs is gradually disappearing due to my MS. Got to get an auto so I'm going to revert to my old ways and get a luxo barge for a few years until house, baby, and finances sort themselves out and I can afford an F-Type or 997.
I'm not going to give it away. Got it up for £12k with a FHSH and 55k miles. Overpriced or about right?

Seems reasonable, I would not let mine go for less. Dealer offered me 7 grand, I laughed my way out the door! Your target market is someone who wants an S2000, rather than joe public. better to overprice and negotiate than let it go for peanuts.

The crazy thing is, that WBAC are offering £10,950 which I think it's nuts. If it doesn't sell privately I'll bite their hands off.

Good examples are definitely holding their value well. A friend recently sold his for 12k with a very similar spec.

Brightside, what power figures did you get? I've not had a problem at all with water temps either on a stock (new) radiator..

Just ordered a Nashin 330mm BBK (bridged monoblock caliper) and a HKS HI-Power exhaust. The wait is painful!

331hp to the wheels, so around 390fly?

Yep same thing everyone tells me, stock radiator is fine for those sort of figures, well everyone but my tuner, he is adamant its all down to the radiator and the need for a low temp stat. i have installed the mishimoto xline radiator, and although it has improved it a fair bit compared with before, it is still creeping up when i am on it, haven't got a low temp thermostat yet as i was hoping just the rad would cure it, im getting access to the ecu hopefully tomorrow as i want to know what the fan is set to come on at.

Blimey! Are S2000s in massive demand at the moment or something? I put it up yesterday and have had 4 calls already.

Summer time, good weather, peak convertible sale season really!

They are definite future classic territory, wish I never crashed mine, wasn't the best example but the price I paid meant I could have spent money on it to tidy up bodywork, refurb wheels and the like, and have kept it for several years and not really lost any money.

The mx5 I have now with all the mods (~220bhp N/A) is possibly more fun/chuckable at road speeds and the chassis is definitely more feelsome, but its not as 'special' feeling when you're on it as an S2000, just lacks that super high rev limit.

So, thinking of free-ing up some money and having something cheap and fun... mainly reliable but cheap to fix should it go wrong... yeah we know, impossible with cars :) But I loved my EP3 and fancy another.

Would 3k get me something worth buying? I've seen a few facelifts around 3k, pretty much bog standard, in very good condition (advertised as so anyway! and look alright in pics), under 100k miles.

Worth going to look at or just no longer worth it with their age?

I wouldn't go mad lowering it and stuff like I did my last one years ago but would have to put a nice cat back on for noise, but they were solid motors then, not the fastest, but clutches around £140, no turbo's or dual mass flywheels to worry about etc... nice prospect before I spend loads on tyres, brakes etc on my BMW. I miss something revvy, noisy and responsive.

Still worth it then? I guess it's mainly service history, rust and bushes which will make or break finding a good one? I still have the buying guide/checklist I made years ago which ended up on TRO.

3k is a fair enough budget for a 100k EP3 these days.

Only thing *I'd* look out for specifically at 100k is that they've not replaced the chain and tensioner for the sake of it being at that mileage, and if it has been done then by a garage with warranty and proof of genuine parts.

But I loved my EP3 and fancy another.

I'm the same boat, my brother owns my old EP3 and I'm trying to convince him to sell me it back! Already sorted with a Spoon N1 back box and K&N induction kit.

Rilot, sounds a good price, where you based? Wales?

They're good fun, I think the most I'd do is induction and exhaust (just cat back), bushes refresh and keep the standard suspension as to be fair the ride was bang on for me. I'll have a proper look at the weekend at the state of the market properly for the 3k figure but seen a few 2004 facelifts just under 100k in seemingly very good shape for the money. Bit of cheap fun nowadays :)

How are the s2000s from 2005?

Saw one for sale with only 25k miles on it, pretty good price. But an ALL red interior. Maybe it just looks bad on photos, but someone REALLY likes red :E

2005 - early 2006 are pretty much the best years to buy, lower tax, facelift, cable throttle, up rated engine internals, no worry of traction control breaking (very expensive repair on the newer cars) best looking alloys out of all the years, leather seats are meant to be better quality than later cars, less twitchy than earlier cars, and loads other things that make them better than the other years cars that i cant remember at this point.

I want to cry :(

I just watched my S2000's new owner drive it away............

I got the £12k though so I'm happy with the money.

Gutted.

Nah, back to my old habits of luxo-barges. The plan is to get a Jag XJ, BMW 7 or Audi A8 and run that for a few years until my boy is big enough to only need a booster and is going to school. Then I'm probably going to get an F-Type or a 911 cab.
My main problem is that I have to have an auto now. MS is ravaging the nerves in my legs meaning that I can barely operate a clutch.

Wow, that is a very good price imo, and sold very quickly! where did you list it?

As much as i love my S2000, its just a car, and i have always been of the opinion that if anyone offered me a price i would be happy with then i would sell it without hesitation, which at this point with all the stuff i have done to it would be around £14.5k. It would be a sad day, but i dont think i would be like the many others and buy another a few years later

Just Autotrader. I had tons and tons of calls. Maybe 4 per day. A few came and looked and then offered silly money.
The guy that bought it was an S2KI member and knew his stuff. he could see that mine was a very well cared for example and took it away there and then.
